My 1st time ever getting over my pride and asking for help and completely left this place embarrassed. After pleading my case in a room of like 20 people (other people seeking help) which I thought was unprofessional, they told me my situation was not crisis enough to be helped. I felt belitted as well speaking details of my situation out loud and not even knowing the full situation because they kept cutting me off. Left empty handed and feeling worse than when I arrived.

I had a bit of a catastrophe when my pipes froze costing $6500 in repairs and a water bill of over $900. I heard about Community helpers when I called 211. I went in and completed the application process and was amazed at the community work that was being done at this organization. Ellen did my intake and was so sympathetic. She and the case worker, Fernicia were multitasking to the beat of a different drum. Before I even left I had an appointment and a suggested help amount toward my water bill. I was so impressed at the work that was being done there. Additional help was offered as well in the way of food which I did come back the same day to obtain in order to subsidize my food costs during this catastrophe. I really love this organization! I found the staff, including the food bank representative to be warm, sympathetic and genuine!

If you know anyone needing help with food, if finances get low, please stop by and see Miss Joyce and her staff. They are friendly and professional. It doesn't take long to fill out the application. Miss Joyce will also let you know about other programs available or coming up for other assistance needed.

I’m glad they are here to help the community and I’m sure dealing with people daily and their needs can be a lot but my first experience walking in was not inviting and the lady was mean maybe she felt overwhelmed or irritated but just my opinion. I won’t be back I already was feeling bad for needing help then to go in somewhere and get treated with a mean attitude was enough for me, I just left.

My daughter and I are in the worse place. And snap cased are all messed up with conversion. I filled out applications there. The lady was sweet and wanted to make sure we had enough food. Not just for us but our dogs as well. If I ever can pay it back, I swear I will. As well as Neighborly software.
