I am a bit concerned as to how these employees at this location speak to clients. Not only do they over talk you and hang up the phone on you but you are treated as if your bothering them. I was not impressed by Gloria. If you do not want people to call and check the status of their approved applications, then I would suggest you mail out a letter so we do not have to call the office. I do not feel comfortable asking this office for much now. That is a sad statement to say as if I had to choose getting help ever again I would just pass and go without . I do not need another round of being disrespected by anyone. There should be a clear line of communication. Please get these employees better etiquette. This job they hold requires compassion and empathy. Not ignorance and belittling .

The lady that answers the phone quite rude. She must really hate her job. Please do her a favor and just let her retire and get someone in there that truly loves helping people. There are people that are eager and willing to do this job and treat people that call like a human and with compassion. Bastrop county, thank you so much for the service that you provide. But please do get someone in this seat that actually cares about the community that they are serving.

Someone said "not sure why the low ratings." Allow me to tell you why. Deanna was the one I spoke to as well. I explained how I had been unemployed for almost a year and had exhausted every option possible. Silence. I asked for help paying lights and water bill. She stated they don't pay water bills and my electricity provider was not one they worked with but did say they could work on it but it would take additional time. Something I don't have. I told her my lights would be turned off tomorrow. Her reply...you can go online andprint an application or pick it up in city hall. Seriously, I just said tomorrow. I asked which companies they worked with because without working for this long, my credit was not where it should be and I was always told a deposit was necessary. Her reply...oh we don't cover deposits. Then more silence. My reply. Well ok, thank you for your time. What else can I say. I've never done this. I need someone knowledgeable and with sincere compassion for people's situations to guide me. She did nothing! NOTHING! This was my last hope for Austin County. I give up! There is no help out there.

The only bad thing I can say is that the connection on the phone kept dropping so they had to call me back several times.

According to the sign on the door they are closed to the public because of the pandemic but are still inside working. Interesting.

My dad applied for Utility Assistance, they couldn't help him right away but gave me numbers to local churches that did end up helping us.
I guess it helps to know what's in your community. Whoever it was that answered the phone said that January 1 started a new year for them and they have to call people applying in the order that the applications come in. Since it was February 1, I would imagine that means there are people in front of my dad. When they told me they cover 5 counties. I was shocked it wasn't just Giddings/ Lee county, so I can understand that they're probably super busy.

Thank you for helping me get my dad taken care of and for getting us to a church to help while we wait for a call.

Give them three stars because they are providing a much-needed service helping with rent and utilities for folks. However, when you apply in June because you know you're going to have a problem by the end of July and they manage to fit you into the schedule in October that's not really helpful! I mean most people don't plan to have a crisis so when they need help they need it right away not 3 to 5 months down the road.

I called to the Rosenberg office and was talked to very Rudely by someone by the name Dawnise . She spoke very roughly as if it was a problem that I had called . Then I asked for a Supervisor and she even was Ruder . Ashley answered the phone the second time and Hung up on me . This behavior should not be Tolerated.

I called EARLY in July for help they sent me an application and said they would send me an appointment date later this month well I received my disconnect notice for the 28th of this month. Called them back now they say can't help me til maybe next month I only have a few days now to try and come up with $ 178.00. Thanks so much. Maybe y'alls people need to be better trained on what to tell people when they call. How do people know they can't make their bills a month ahead.
