A great organization! My daughter has been involved with the orchestra for several years now. It's been a real pleasure to be a part of a group that actually cares about my daughter's future - not just as a musician, but overall. The cost is well worth it - the level of musical education she has received is amazing. The directors are not only educators, but working professionals in their field as well and it shows. They are also human beings who understand how to work with kids (teenagers!) and while their expectations are high, their understanding is as well.

My daughter has enjoyed her experience performing with the CYSO Orchestra and plans to continue through high school. She also attends the CYSO summer music camp. She has truly grown as a musician because of the instruction of the professional-level conductors and the challenging music they perform. We are so thankful that they provide this opportunity for our young musicians.

We have 2 daughters at CYSO and have been involved with the organization for 2 years. We looked into other youth orchestras and we found that CYSO was the best combination of a professional orchestra environment while still being family friendly, helpful, and kind. My daughters have learned so much, particularly about teamwork when playing music, which if they do continue their music career, will be the most likely avenue. We have a large family and CYSO has always been willing to work with us by offering scholarships and volunteer opportunities. Recital attire is completely reasonable (no over-the-top costumes, just professional black, red camisole, tie) and affordable. Highly recommended!

Amazing conductors, challenging repertoire, organized and communicative staff, manageable time commitment even during marching band season--CYSO is a great addition to my son's music schedule! He even highly recommended it to his friends. The fee is in line with experience gained and length of time (September-May).

The Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra program has been fabulous for my granddaughter. This is her third season with CYSO and I have seen her grow as a musician, expand her musical knowledge and have fun making music! The conductors she has worked with have been excellent teachers and terrific people. The concerts are fun, too! Thank you, CYSO, for all you do for the young musicians of Metro Denver. Keep up the great work!

I have one son who has been with the CYSO for 1 year and I am impressed. The staff is friendly and helpful, The conductors help the students to go beyond what they have learned in a traditional school setting and the music choices have been both challenging and enlightening. The staff is always communicating with the students and parents to make sure everyone is prepared and have the music they need. The conductors take the time to work with the students on the music they are performing, ensuring the kids are learning and enjoying the pieces they are performing. Last year my son was struggling with a piece by Tchaikovsky. As he learned more about the composer, and with us having a Russian background and he heard the music with me one day on KVOD he became more enthused and driven to do his best for that performance. I highly recommend the CYSO to anyone with a musical child as it will be a gift to them for the rest of their musical lives.

We've been with CYSO for three years, in two of the orchestras. Both conductors we've had are really fantastic. The conductor for the youngest orchestra is incredibly patient, and strives for that balance between serious music-playing time and just having fun. I also really appreciate the grounded philosophy of CYSO as it relates to students juggling music, homework, and family.

Except the excellent program , great teachers and responsive staffs, I would like to recommend their summer program. My son has been with CYSO for a year and half and attended the summer program last year. It's in a chamber style that he gained a lot of experience there.
Not only the instructors were perfectionl but also the way they instructed those young musicians were beneficial to them. My son told me he learned how to really pay attention to other musicians and wanted to get better since you are the only flute or oboe or French horn in your group. They have a chance to discuss how they wanted to perform the music that everyone's inputs counts. That gave them more motivation and putting more feelings into the music. Try it and you won't regret it!
