This rescue does amazing and tireless work, never turning away Colorado horses in need and taking in even the hardest of cases. We adopted a rescue horse from them and they were so professional and quick to respond to any questions. We are so happy with our adopted gelding who is now best friends with our other horses. I can’t say enough about how good their work is. I will be adopting from them again.

I can honestly say I’ve adopted a number of horses from the rescue over the years and I have always been told the truth about health issues or lameness before adoption. And even been told no when they thought the horse wasn’t a good fit. I have had help with questions I needed answers for. And even help when things got out of my control. As with any animal they need an adjustment period when introduced into a new environment no different than the anxiety you feel when thrust into a situation you aren’t familiar with. Most of my adoption have been senior horses and yes a couple donkeys as well. Ive been to the rescue my fair share and have never ran across anything dangerous. Yes they may be a little hard to get ahold of at times but be patient and stop a moment then think what they are doing and how much time they spend on the road to rescue all the horses or donkeys everyone else saw as disposable before you judge a non profit like CHRN. I have nothing but positive energy and thoughts for the people who do a thankless job. Here is a picture of our lil Smokie just one of the horses that was adopted from CHRN who carries a little girl with severe ADHD steadily and safely without cause for concern. She is pushing a very ripe old age but still thriving.

A Haven for Horses: My Experience with CHRN
I have had the incredible opportunity to visit the CHRN horse adoption center, and I am still in awe of the amazing work they do. From the moment I stepped onto their property, I was greeted with warmth and a genuine love for horses.
The staff at CHRN are truly passionate about their mission to save horses. Their dedication and kindness are evident in every interaction. They go above and beyond to provide these beautiful animals with the care, love, and rehabilitation they need.
We were searching for a companion horse for my mare when I stumbled upon CHRN. I fell in love with Hawk (Kirk)and Dorado (Hank) the moment we met them. The staff at CHRN were so helpful and supportive throughout the adoption process. My horses are now thriving in their new home, and I couldn't be happier.
I highly recommend CHRN. Their commitment to their mission is inspiring, and their work is making a real difference in the lives of countless horses.

We adopted a young donkey as a companion for our single guy and couldn’t be happier. We went out with a couple of donkeys in mind, but after some discussion about our current guy and his personality Carrie strongly recommended we take home Banjo. She couldn’t have been more right, he became fast friends with Leroy and a year later they are absolutely inseparable. Thank you for everything you do!

I adopted two senior horses from CHRN in the past, and both were the best horses ever …. Rescued but very well adjusted and wonderful companions. I could tell they had excellent care at the rescue, and how much Carrie loves what she does. She is not only a vast source of knowledge but has a passion and love for the horses she saves. She is a hero in my book!
