I applied last February and was wrongfully denied assistance because the incompetent case manager didn't read my pay statement properly. I pointed this out to get and she said I would have to wait 15 days to reapply. I reapplied and of course they are "out of funding". How convenient. This program appears to intentionally delay assistance so that they never have to pay out. By the time anyone would get any assistance they would be without electricity if they hadn't figured out another way to pay. It doesn't take months to review an application. Most of the income information could be automatically verified. Texas receives some of the highest amount of energy assistance in the country from the federal government, but shafts citizen when it comes to disbursement. Where is all of Texas's LIHEAP funding going if not to the people who apply for it? I have some ideas...

They had an event today which was unorganized. The line was wrapped twice around the building. Cars were threatened to be towed if parked at a facility. What do you expect? No parking spaces for people to park to get in line to get their bills paid. I left because it was hot and the line was very long. They need to do better. I couldn’t stand in line to get my bill paid.

This morning was my 4th attempt to apply for utility assistance. There are so some serious flaws to the application process and system. I surrender. There are so many in need of assistance in Texas . I thought this was to help the elderly and those with small children. Well once again , no help unable to access application process even though each time all was in order on my end. Get the application going then it's over before you can finish . I was in the buildings each time.

I mailed in my application in January 2024. I’ve managed to get to the office four times. I have called multiple times and no one can provide me with my case manager name. I am losing everything very soon and no one has reached out for any type of help. If you can find another program that could possibly help that may be better than this one, because they do NOT communicate and do NOT help. All the lady at the front desk had to say was ā€œjust be positiveā€ and someone should be getting back with me soon. I even explained that I don’t have a vehicle and it’s hard to get a job.

I’m praying for a better outcome. Reading the past reviews it seems this is normal for this organization. They don’t even take the time to respond to our concerns (reviews) online.

This place is an organized fraud non profit. I have applied 3 times in three different years since the pandemic started. Once in 2020 after my workplace was shut down….once again in 2022 when I was laid off & again in 2024 after a medical emergency left me with daily epileptic seizures.

Each time that I’ve applied for assistance I have never heard anything back from the caseworkers or representatives in the 6-8 week timeframe outlined on when expect an application update.

Every other financial assistance program or rent relief program I’ve contacted— since CAP never actually provides services to those in need——have IMMEDIATELY rendered services & provided application updates within a maximum two weeks.

CAP purposefully drags out the application process knowing Texas evictions ALWAYS happen in less than 30 days.

The 2024 application opened in January & it is now late APRIL & has been 3 months since I filed my assistance application with NO update or change to my application status & my eviction was finalized in court today.

I applied at the very beginning of the application opening so why in 3 months would there be no update? When you call to get status updates after waiting for 3 months they have bad condescending attitudes, refuse to answer any questions & do the very bare minimum to make you feel worthless & hopeless.

This is a local & state funded organization & I see countless reviews of the same disgusting pattern of behavior displayed by staff & this organization. I have a feeling the actual participants reviews of receiving help are from friends & family members of staff who work at this organization & NOT actual residents of Tarrant County in need.

I have filed an official complaint with the Texas Attorney General’s office against this organization as fraud & not acting in good faith & I advise anyone who has had a similar experience to do so also.

This place, its workers & where the funds are going need to be fully investigated & defunded. I have also emailed several news outlets The Star Telegram & Fox 4 news to get to the bottom of why this is a recurrent theme for those Tarrant County residents in need.

Wish all of you guys all the best in your search for actual financial assistance in your time of need but this place DOES NOT HELP.
