Just joined a week ago. Had previously used "boutique" gyms like Orange Theory and F45 but found their operating hours incompatible with my work and family schedule.

Things I like at the YMCA on Alameda:
- great value.
- two pools, equipment everywhere, nice facility
- all staff have been helpful and friendly
- family oriented
- extensive hours including nights and weekends
- can bring my children to workouts

I'm glad I joined.

I really enjoy going to Central YMCA.
I was always afraid of taking swimming lessons and finally I scheduled some private sessions and my instructors are every professional, patient, knowledgeable and caring. I also enjoy my Zumba classes: the instructor is so energetic, enthusiastic, happy and respectful ! Very pleased to be a member !

I had a good experience with the facilities at the Central YMCA. I took a swim in the heated indoor pool early on Saturday morning. It was a fantastic way to begin the day. By using the online pool schedule on the YMCA website, I was able to monitor the date and time. It was very easy to use. The women's lockers are in good condition and sturdy. Attending the Central YMCA is beneficial due to the weight and workout gym, Racketball room, and Basketball court being facilities that can be utilized for your daily lifestyle.

I just signed up for membership this morning. I was greeted with a very personal hello and a warm smile. Jill was
personable, friendly and knowledgeable, and made me feel very welcomed. She was
able to help me navigate the process of becoming a member for the first time. Jill was able to multitask with other members and signing me up. She seems to be a wonderful asset to this location! Thank you so much for taking the time to introduce me to the YMCA!

Swim lessons here are fantastic. The class sizes are very manageable, coaches are enthusiastic and have good teaching skills, and feedback is excellent. Highly recommend.

It was our first time at this location (we usually attend a few different locations) because we were told the pools were so great.
First the pros: they have an indoor and an outdoor pool. The indoor pool was nice and warm. It felt warmer than all the other indoor pools we’ve tried so far. There were enough lifeguards present and everyone we encountered working there, seemed really nice.
Cons: for some reason children under 12 are not allowed in the women’s or men‘s locker rooms (it’s not like that in the other locations) so you have to use the kids locker room. To get there, you have to go downstairs. There are only 8 lockers. And to get to the pools you have to get up a different set of stairs. So if you have little kids that still struggle with stairs, it’s just a big pain in the rear.
They have a ton of signs about showering before entering the pool. Great, we always do that. But you are supposed to use the one downstairs. So you should shower your little kids downstairs, then drag them wet and cold upstairs.. why They theoretically have an outdoor shower but first, it wasn’t turned on and second it was so filthy. Even a guy working there let me know before he showed me where it is about that fact. There were bunches of hair laying around and it really needs a cleaning with a power washer. The last option is a bathroom that you can access from outside that also has a shower in there. But it smelled like mold. Like a lot of not so good moisture. If it wasn’t for the great pools, I don’t think I would ever visit this location again. And even with the pools, I’m not sure I will.
