I have been with CCAPP since 2013. Renewing has always been stressful and taken a long time, until now. I just renewed my certification and it only took them 6 days to renew my certification! I want to thank the CCAPP team for making this process quicker and less stressful. I am not sure what changed but I am happy it did and great job CCAPP/ Certemy!

I tried to refrain from leaving a bad review, but this has been an awful experience so far. They’re quick to take your money for certification but does not follow through with timing. If you’re looking for updates or just to speak to anyone about concerns, you can forget about it. Not only do they dodge phone calls, but they’ll ignore your emails as well. Don’t believe the 5 star bots leaving reviews on here either. Even if you wanted a refund you wouldn’t be able to get it because they won’t answer the phone, so if a certain time frame passes you’re screwed. When I call Kimberly Limburg, her assistant (Linda) answers and tells you “she might be in vacation, I don’t know what to tell you”. I’ve wasted thousands of dollars just to still NOT be certified in the time frame that THEY gave. Please save your money, time, and anger. I’ve never been so disappointed and let down. Imagine trying to help people recover from drugs or alcohol and you have to deal with a group of individuals like this. This is what’s wrong in our community. We need people who are truly in office to help, not play games with someone’s money.

People that are on here complaining about CCAPP are people who have not followed the instructions and have waited last minute for renewal. I have been with CCAPP for several years and have had no issues. But be aware you do need patience. Thank you CCAPP for opening several doors for me.

This company took all my money, have not responded to emails or answered calls and it has been 3 years. They made me go to Sober College to complete a $6000 course for no reason as they never checked the paperwork. They made me pay for the exam and application fee as well as membership. Three years of silence. They gave me one refund for the application fee. They are not responding to anything else or refunding anything I request or remind that I am owed. I will be seeking further assistance with this company. It is a disgrace, a scam and a concern that this is going on in the mental health field.

Two years ago, I submitted my CEUs and submitted Membership and Certification Renewal Fees approximately 40 days in advance of my expiration 09/13/2022. I kept checking on the progress on Certemy, and the only items that were completed were my Membership and Renewal Fees. I kept calling, was on hold for long periods of time whilst trying to provide services. Because my application was not reviewed until 1 or 2 days prior to my expiration, it was discovered that certain CEU's submitted were rejected (which I take full responsibility for). However, it would have been helpful if my renewal was reviewed sooner to give me time to re-submit, which I did the same or next day, as I had certificates. However, by the time they had reviewed what I had submitted, my credentials were not renewed in time, and in the 1st time in 23 years with the same agency, I was forced to go on administrative leave, and upon my return was handed my first and only reprimand.

Fast forward to today, Application and fees submitted August 5, 2024. Calls made prior to today, CCAPP Staff informed my that because that despite submitting my application fees on 08/05/2024 my renewal application could not be reviewed until after the threshold 30 days prior to my expiration. I noticed though when I submitted my CEUs and Ethics Training double populated the CEU and Ethics sections, so I uploaded CEUs in the CEU section, then called CCAPP to discuss my renewal (4th or 5th call I had made in the last 30 days to help ensure my application is reviewed in a more timely manner). Well, today for the first time, it was explained to me that it is 30 WORKING DAYS NOT INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS. I asserted with the gentleman on the telephone, if my credential is not renewed on time and I am again required to take administrative leave and receive a reprimand from my employer, I will have no incentive to renew my credentials with CCAPP moving forward. I can't believe this is happening to a guy that has been a counselor since 1995, and with CCAPP close to 10 years. I can believe they market themselves as the premiere certifying body, sponsor all these events, but can't consistently support there members and credentialed professionals in good standing.

CCAPP is a textbook example of disorganization and incompetence, utterly failing to fulfill their core responsibilities. They market themselves as a non-profit organization, but in reality, they seem more focused on selling vendor booths, classes, and memberships that offer little to no value. Their primary duty—certifying SUD counselors in California—appears to be an afterthought. Communication is abysmal, and they consistently drop the ball on renewals and certifications. A quick glance at reviews on Google Maps, Yelp, or the BBB reveals a consistent pattern of mismanagement and neglect. This organization has lost sight of its mission and provides zero support to its members. Certify with CADTP and avoid CCAPP at all costs.
