I'm very disappointed in Camp Verde.

UPDATE: The town has replied deceptively to appear as though what occurred didn't occur the way it did and why it did. I will continue to remove my comment and repost it until the town communicates professionally, or replies with the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. This is about Camp Verde's lack of respect for its people, nothing more. We can talk procedure after the apology folks. Until then, I'm not concerned about your plethora of definitions and wasted time.

I attended a city council meeting this evening, and it was the rudest, most disrespectful group of town council members I've ever worked with. They're probably great in personal life, but as it relates to their money and their role, they have no genuine respect for the public, their needs, their money, or their voice. They just want things to continue as they are, taking leftovers from smoother functioning towns with more value added in those towns.

I had a simple question about a subject being discussed. The council sat for 30 minutes, spending our tax money, arguing over the definition of commission and committee to form a pool and a tree committee. They didn't discuss the problem, simply the infinite definition of those two words, committee, and commission.

I asked what the goals were of the committee OR commission, and was ignored through the remote features for 25 minutes.

Then council took offense to the question when asked, and muted me multiple times stating that though they called on me for the question, it's inappropriate to answer, to tell us what the goals of that money being spent would be. This means that these folks are wasting your money, and they don't even know it anymore.

This is a review of the Arizona Tourist Information office in Camp Verde, NOT the town hall. I feel obligated to warn visitors about an office labeled 'Arizona Tourist Information' and to inform the civic and business leaders of Camp Verde that this operation is a blight on their town's reputation.

On June 19, 2013, my wife and I were early into a 8-day, 7-night trip to Arizona. We wanted to stop and have lunch, get gas, and visit Montezuma's Castle, a national park near Camp Verde. We then made the mistake of stopping at the aforementioned office to get directions.

At first, the man in the office seemed friendly and willing to help. He took out a printed map of the local area and started drawing routes on it. But then he veered off into activities we were not interested in - casinos, resorts, and jeep rides nearby but not in Camp Verde nor on the shortest route to Montezuma's Castle. After a few minutes I had to make it clear that we had already booked every night of our vacation so we wouldn't be staying in any of his resorts. As I reached for the map he pulled it away from me and TORE IT UP IN FRONT OF US! As a consequence of this boorish behavior we left town immediately, getting our gas and lunch elsewhere.

The town leadership of Camp Verde may think it unfair that I am writing this review. No doubt there are many there who work hard to build and promote its image.

However, I think it is unfair that we had our time wasted by this man's rudeness. If you (the leaders) don't like this review, then fix the problem. As for the rest of you (tourists), definitely go to Montezuma's Castle (yes, we found it ourselves), give Camp Verde a second chance, but NEVER go into any office labeled 'Arizona Tourist Information'.
