Cambrian Park Plaza is an historic 1953 outdoor California car-culture colonial revival style mall that has been lovingly maintained in its nearly original design ever since. It’s currently a little worse for the wear, with a lot of vacancies, but it has some vibrant businesses still, and tons of parking. Come check it out and patronize the businesses here before it’s gone.

In 2022 San Jose City Council annexed the nearly 20-acre parcel of County land including the Plaza into the City, a step on the path of redeveloping the property into a more pedestrian-friendly “Urban Village“ mixed-use development.

Naturally, not everyone who lives nearby is happy about the high density development plans, but if you don’t live nearby, and have never seen this one-story relic of a bygone era, then I suggest you rush over and check it out before the wrecking crew comes to tear down everything in my photos, except the quirky carousel sign, which apparently will be saved and moved to new location along Union Avenue.

A brilliant perhaps-seen-better-days time capsule of Silicon Valley when it was just called Santa Clara Valley. Soon it will be gone so go enjoy the 1950s alpine-style and give the cool storefronts your business. Adore this place.

This has been past its prime for a few decades, and it appears a complete renovation is coming soon (as of 2022). Even past its heyday though it has nice features, like the weekly farmer's market, occasional food trucks, and a Christmas Tree lot in December. The carousel in the parking lot is a historical site.

For decades, I used to shop at Cambrian Park Plaza for anything from Togos's to Pizza, Grocery store, Eleanor's Fashions, the Bunny Hutch, Ben Franklin, Bev & Mo, Fun Fabrics, & I bowled on a league Wednesday Washout's in the 70's, & 80's.
But nowadays I only go for Bank of the West, & the Dollar store.

It's become a pretty much sad, & depressing shopping strip center, not much left, nearly everything has closed.
