I was a member when I was a kid! an employee as an adult . What an amazing place to develop character.

Sidenote: I called to inquire about the possibility of my son attending there for July only . Whoever works front desk needs more training on proper phone etiquette. They answered the phone without proper greeting. They just said hello. I asked how they were doing .. and they said " how can I help you... I asked about summer camp.. and they cut me off immediately... Rude and unprofessional

I chose the Boys and Girls Club Hueytown for convenience as well as cost. However, there is no amount of convenience or cost that would allow me to subject my children to the treatment they received by staff and other children. There were multiple instances where my son was physical assaulted by other students in the presence of staff. He was told by one teenage staff member that he must defend himself. Others turned a blind eye and stated the kids did not like him. Jeremy is awful and has zero experience handling conflict with children. He’s too busy being a friend to the kids versus being an adult. I am not opposed to teens and young adults being given jobs with children, however they should be supervised and trained properly. There were incidents and each time, the “cameras” did not catch it. I spoke with the area director, Tamara, who appeared to be concerned. She reported having a meeting with the kids and staff because there were behaviors that had been going on for a while that were not being properly addressed by staff. The little kids are often mixed in with the older children added with minimal to no supervision. I was highly disappointed in the Boys and Girls Club. Complete chaos! If convenience and cost is two things you need the Boys and Club Hueytown is ideal! However, please be prepared to deal with bullying and fighting. Your kids being mishandled by other children and staff. As well as being supervised by poorly trained staff and young people. I reported it to the schools but should have made police reports.

The schools provided me with a list of aftercare programs that transport, have highly trained staff that provide a safe environment for children.

I would not recommend this facility. They are unsafe. My children were getting beat up and bullied constantly. They would never write anything, up, follow up, or notify me of any incident. It took my kids coming home crying and upset about it for me to know anything happened. Once, a child put a jacket over my child’s head and held it there. Another time, the same kid smooshed my child on the bus. Another time, that same kid pulled my other child’s pants down. All of these times, they were notified and did nothing until I threatened to file a report with the police. They also put the blame my child for telling on a kid for attempting to throw a chair at them. They then wrote my child up for hitting a kid back after he hit her all after multiple incidents of attacks on my children had been reported. Counselors basically told my children they were lying about things done to them. I eventually broke ties with them. No mother wants to pay for their children to be somewhere in the care of others who doesn’t have their best interest at heart or even have the competency to watch children and be fair to them. There is no accountability at this establishment. It caused more problems and stress for me here than it was a peace of mind. We will never go back.

PARENTS I don’t usually leave reviews but I would hate for someone to pay all the money this facility ask for summer camp. I was lied too I was told they will help children academically. They don’t supply breakfast or hot lunch only snacks. Children take others food because of hunger. Mostly teenagers work here I wouldn’t recommend this facility at all.

Great! My daughter loves going to this facility. They have games 🎮, gym, dancing 💃, visit to colleges and swimming.

All of this was before the pandemic. Now it's much smaller and less activities, however my daughter still enjoys getting out of the house and being around other children. They've made a lot of provisions to try to keep the children safe.

A great alternative to the YMCA. My kid enjoys it for aftercare and for the summer camp. The staff is friendly and attentive. They are also fairly price. I would recommend if you have one kid or multiple.

Great staff. My 10 year old loves the after school program. They pick him up from school. He plays football, basketball and soccer at the Boys and Girls Club in a safe friendly environment. I rate them a 10. !!!!
