We stayed in one of the casitas on a road trip over spring break, and this was a charming stop on our long drive. The suite was large enough for our group of 5, and the view was fantastic. Breakfast at the main lodge was great before we got back on the road. I wish we would have allowed another night to have more time to explore, but the location being so close following our half day visit to Mesa Verde was perfect.

We never saw our host. We only saw one very polite woman watering the weeds. We stayed at Blue Lake in July 2024. The area was overgrown, weedy and not well kept. We couldn't see any mountains or the ponds from our location or the main house. We have had better breakfast at a hotel! My husband got up in the middle of the night to kill all the bugs in the room so I wouldn't wake up and see them. We asked for someone to come clean and spray, but the bugs were still there. Please stay somewhere else.

Possibly the best B&B I've ever been to. Grandparents, parents and 2 kids stayed at the River House, somewhat apart from the rest of the properties. A beautiful home, two master suites, each with no-step showers and jetted tubs. Also a (half?) bath in the hall. The Great Room (LR/DR/K) was magnificent. Towering beamed cathedral ceiling and loads of glass to the SE/S/SW allowed the the sun to pour in through the trees. Creek just 100' from the front door. A hot breakfast and juices/cereals/fruits/breads--your typical large-variety breakfast, but you could talk with Margaret as she whipped up some eggs and bacon. Not a chain...real people. You'll need a car.

We booked online with no prior knowledge of the area or anything— just that it was close to the national park. Our road trip from New Mexico had taken longer than we thought, and we arrived in the dark and almost missed the turnout (the sign is teeny tiny!). But from the moment we pulled up to the lodge, we were in another world. The Blue Lake Ranch is nothing short of idyllic. ||The cute little lodge is nestled in the trees and sports big picture windows overlooking the lake and the mesa beyond. The decor is rustic and comfortable and little touches like the fireplace, cozy robes, and the giant king bed made it feel luxurious, too. ||The smell of breakfast cooking was lovely to wake up to in the morning, and it was a spread that puts fancy Vegas buffets to shame. There had to have been 20 different things to sample— sweet and savory, southwestern cuisine and traditional breakfast fare. It was a FEAST, and prepared us splendidly for a day of hiking in the national park. || |A review of this place wouldn’t make sense at all without mentioning the hospitality of the lovely family who runs the place. Nowhere in any of my travels in the US have I been treated so well, and I think it really made my trip with Grandma. Firstly when we arrived late, it was after most places in the surrounding towns had closed. The chef made us up plates of what was intended to be their family dinner and insisted we sit and eat. The food was fabulous of course. Then, the next morning, we’d forgotten trekking poles for my elderly grandma, and when I went to ask where the nearest sporting goods store was the manager offered to let us borrow his spare trekking pole. Finally, we wanted to go stargazing down by the lake and the chef brought me a flashlight to use, even made sure it had fresh batteries. ||It’s the little things like those that make a trip memorable, and I’m happy to say I don’t think we’ll ever forget our stay at the blue lake ranch.

What an amazing stay. We spent two nights as a vacationing couple at the Sunset Casita. It was a lovely one bedroom- over 800 sq ft. The view of the mountains was lovely and we watched mule deer and a coyote from the back porch at sunset. The bed was comfortable. The decor was southwestern nice art. The breakfast was delicious- they served a South African hot poached egg dish with a red sauce that was yummy. Wonderful selection of foods served in the dining room. The ranch is in a delightful natural setting with flowers, birds galore. So quiet! Next time in the area we will return.

We stayed in the sunset casita, which is one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in on our two week Colorado trip. It is really a mini-house in a complex with two other rooms. The casita has a large living room and a separate bedroom, all with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Bathroom was huge. The place also has a front porch with two loungers which we both enjoyed. The whole place was very tranquil. While we only stayed two nights this is one of these places where I wish we had booked more time to just plunk down with a book and stare at the mountains. |I would take half a star off for the breakfast, which was a bit chaotic and only OK. It sometimes felt like the staff could not keep up in replenishing the buffet. But I would certainly come back here.

This was a place I had been dreaming about staying. Sadly, I was extremely disappointed by the entire experience. We stayed in both the River House and Pinon Suite with our now beloved dog. The Pinon Suite is very poorly maintained, smelled like Febreze, the old rugs, drapes, bedding, chairs, etc. were tattered and stained. Lastly, the Pinon Suite offers no privacy in terms of sound. We could hear our neighbors being intimate on the other side of the dividing door. This made us extremely uncomfortable for our sake and theirs. The River House is actually a beautiful home in slightly better shape but the mattresses were gross... cobwebs everywhere, lack of proper and presentable cookware in the kitchen and poor state of cleanliness overall. The bedrooms were uninviting with frumpy old armchairs and dated decor. There was even a bag full of trash decomposing in the backyard of the River House. Everyone we interacted with was very kind, the main building was well kept and the grounds are gorgeous. The property is beautiful -- this place has so much potential but aspects of the accommodations need serious improvements, starting with replacing worn furnishings and hiring additional cleaning staff.

We arrived after several days of staying in higher end ($) places in Albuquerque & Santa Fe.|Our time in the lovely, clean, well decorated Sunrise Casita was far & away the best part of our trip!|There was so much peace and room to kick back & relax.|We enjoyed morning coffee & evening wine on our lovely deck looking out on the LaPlata range, listening to nothing but birdsong & cattle sweetly lowing in a distant pasture.|Blue Lake staff referred us to make reservations at the nearby restaurant, The Kennebec, where both excellent food & service lured us back for a second night (reservations required).|The included breakfast service at Blue Lake Ranch was also excellent. |We also spent one day @ Mesa Verde National Park - extremely interesting & not crowded!|I would love to return to Blue Lake Ranch & definitely would book the Sunrise Casita again.
