If I could give zero stars I would! I should have followed my instincts the very first night my elderly husband was admitted and transferred him the next day! The day my husband was admitted to Baron House we were not greeted by staff until a couple of hours after we got there. And that night one of the CNAs got a nasty attitude bc we asked for a remote. That was on a Thursday. Friday and Saturday went by and then on Sunday I had to really push for them to get him out of bed to sit in his wheelchair for a bit. Bc at the time my husband couldn’t move his right side bc of a stroke he had during open heart surgery, so he could not move himself to a chair. After awhile they put him back in the bed. I leave and later that night he calls me and tell me “On the floor” I asked “What’s on the floor he says “My body”, bc he had aphasia, he really couldn’t express what happened. I tell him to push the call button but he couldn’t bc it was on the other side of the bed. I hang up and call the nurses station no answer, my brother in law finally in touch with them, and lets them know my husband fell! It took 11 mins for the cnas to get to him. To make a long story short, they failed to put the guard rail down and my husband fell out of the bed, landed on his chest. I get there and the cna tells me, that he was the one who raised the guard rail up, lowered his bed and tried to stand up. That is a flat out lie bc my husband couldn’t move his right arm or leg to even attempt that! She lied to cover up the fact that they neglected to do their job. They didn’t even call 911 for medical they only called 911 for a lift! It was the firemen who called for medical! That fall caused him to have a lacerated liver and spleen! This happened on Jan 19th after having open heart surgery on Jan 3rd! Diversicare needs to either shut that place down or clean house and fire every single person there and hire people who actually do care and want to do their jobs!

My loved one was admitted to Baron House. It was a very difficult time for our family, and I had no idea of what to expect from the facility or staff.. however, when I arrived from out of town to check on things, I was very impressed and pleased with the care and support provided by Ms. Ritchey and her staff. Ms. Lottie was extremely helpful as well. They kept me updated on my loved ones progress and were very transparent about everything that I needed to know regarding my loved one's overall well-being. The customer service that Ms. Ritchey and her team provided reassured me that there are still some caring, dedicated, and loving people who value their calling to care for others! Their professionalism and positive communication to our family made all the difference. Thank you for your assistance. Much respect!

Please know if for some reason your loved one is admitted after normal business hours on the weekend, there is a skeleton crew, so make sure you ask AND follow up with any Rx they may need because it doesn't seem that BH uses a 24 hr pharmacy to get them delivered in a timely fashion. Your loved one could go 12-36 hrs, as mine did, without proper medication. We arrived on a Friday around 6:30 p.m. Also, if it's the weekend, ask about baths and showers. We didn't know to do this (I didn't think we had to) and my mama didn't get a bath for three days. They offered to do it the morning we were waiting to be transferred, that's when we met Tanya, a CNA I think, she did her job with the dignity and respect the residents deserve. Antonia was not there upon my mama's initial admission and maybe if she would have been, we would have had a better experience. Tracy, the night nurse, was kind and did what she could to correct some issues, but some things are simply beyond her control. The Admissions team needs to meet the facility owner(s) and update the after-hours and weekend in-take policy and procedures because it leaves a lot to be desired. I have always appreciated people who don't mind going above and beyond their assigned duties from time to time and I wish I could say that about Ms. Lottie, but when she clocks out, she's done for the day, and doesn't mind telling you. When considering a rehabilitation facility, just don't read the reviews online, go see for yourself, if you can. Please know I wish I could say more positive things, but the level of unprofessionalism and low-key pettiness displayed once they found out we wanted a transfer was quite disheartening. Hopefully your experience will be more pleasant.

Baron House of Hueytown did not disappoint!!! The staff was 5 star!! Professional and caring. They were always attentive and helpful.
The facility has been around for many years. It was not modern in appearance but it was clean with all necessary amenities. The physical therapy staff was diligent in strengthening our patient. The social worker and other administrative staff took time to address all our concerns and followed through as their roles dictated.
What they lacked in “curb appeal” they made up for with caring personnel in every area we needed.

I am not sure how the staff is, but when I went in there to visit someone, there was supplies and all all over the hall floor. Looked very unorganized. It may not be unclean, but as a first impression, it sure does seem unclean. A patient care facility should always look spotless.

This center is something special. The food is amazing. The team works as a family. Best food and activities hands down.
