I have called 4x this morning about a payment made online 3/27 still not reaching the bank. I don't want to get hit with a late charge. I have called the 833 telephone number automatically hangs up on you. Same with the local number what is going on... UPDATE The billing team did a great job of tracking down my payment and getting it applied. Ty everyone!

We have been living in Kodak for decades, BILLS ALWAY PAID ON TIME! But as far as service, always behing! Always power outages, many times for days. While everyone else down the street with lights and heat on! Can someone explain this! Not long ago, they were replacing everything, and as of today still no power going on 15 hours! Something has to be done! I would love to meet that person who is in charge!!! He needs to be replaced or get this whole company out! And like i mentioned, it is always the same issues! What do we need to do to stop these nightmares?!

Our transformer blowed early this morning so at 4am I called it in. We’d yet to report an outage in our 2 1/2 years as customers; we assumed our power would be out until late afternoon. I was happily impressed to see the sunrise arrive behind their crew at 6am sharp! The gentlemen were super polite while gettin straight to work. In under 20 minutes both transformer and power were restored! I am beyond satisfied with AEC! Also, if you haven’t installed it; I highly recommend the AEC app! It’s very easy to use and has made billing/payments with them an absolute breeze! Pictures below in order as before, during, & after

Went to pay my monthly bill in person due to website was down for payments and also if you pay in person they waved the late fee off the bill for this week only in January So thankful for that and they understand the situation of the weather impacts on people. The place was nice and the young lady was very happy to help me and others that came in. Has a drive through to pay your bill. Also handicap parking .

It used to be quite simple to go online and quickly pay my bill. But the recent changes that have been made have made it ridiculously difficult to do so. You'd think you would make it easier for someone to pay their bill!

Power goes off in Dandridge way too often. New Outage Map sucks Doesn't show streets affected. For the prices we pay, we need better information. Employees who answer calls about an outages are useless and rude.

I’ve called Appalachian Electric five times today. My first call was answered but transferred to the wrong person.

On my second call, I was 7th in line, worked my way up to 1st, and was sent straight to voicemail.

Third call, I was 5th in line, got to 1st, and again, voicemail.

Fourth and fifth calls? I was FIRST in line and can you guess what happened ? Sent straight to voicemail. Absolutely unacceptable. Horrible front desk staff and awful customer service in the call center. Get it together.

MARCH 2024 UPDATE: somehow my 1100 sq ft house is using over 4000 kwh. That’s equal to running a 1000w appliance for 4000 hours. There’s only 730 hours in a month, and we weren’t even here for a week. We keep the thermostat set to 65. The math ain’t mathing, AEC. We just paid another $500 bill for our little house with 3 residents who spend most of our time at work and school. You are robbing us blind.

update FEB 2023: $415 electric bill for a home that’s 1100 sq ft, insulated, and I didn’t even put up lights/tree this year. Our heat pump shut off during that awful cold snap and we stayed with family for two days because it was 40 degrees in our house. yet somehow we managed to be charged triple of everyone I know with a different service provider.* INSANE.
Appalachian Electric slammed my family with a $750 bill because they ā€œthought our house burned downā€ and didn’t bother to check meters either in person OR remotely. That’s the laziest buck-passing LIE I’ve ever heard. They also gave us less than 2 weeks to PAY IN FULL (once WE brought it to THEIR attention) with a threat of disconnection even though it was THEIR mistake. That $750 is nothing to them but it really hurt our family financially. When somebody at AEC doesn’t do their job, you bet they’ll punish the customer for it.
Also, since then, our bill has averaged around $330/mo. When we first moved here, it was only between $150-$200/mo. Now, I’ll tell you this: When I lived in Knoxville 2 years ago (before I moved to Jefferson County), my 100 year old house had GAS heat and ZERO insulation. Our new home in Jeff Co. has decent insulation and is all electric. Yet somehow our monthly power bills are more expensive than my worst winter bill I ever got from KUB (and my KUB bill had gas, water, and sewage INCLUDED).
Also- AEC billing doesn’t provide cost-per-unit…you don’t even know what they’re charging you for your supposed usage! Scammy to the max! I wish I could afford to move back to KUB at this point! The website is unnecessarily complicated and counterintuitive. For all the nickel and diming of the customers, this company could afford better.
It’s incredibly clear that somebody at AEC doesn’t do their job correctly and then they charge their customers for their poor management. Can’t wait to get solar or wind power up here so that we aren’t continuing to be robbed blind by this unethical
monopoly. It’s criminal.
