I want to thank the staff at Animas Surgical Hospital's ER! Thank you so much for helping me today. I was taken back within five minutes, given a warm blanket, my iv was inserted without any pain, the doctor listened and got to the bottom of my problems. The staff were empathetic and caring. Just thank you.

i ended up in the ER unexpectedly after my personal physician sent me there to check out an injury. i was promptly settled into a room, hooked up to various tubes and waited for a CTScan. Ben attended to me with kid gloves, was patient (no pun intended) with all his questions, managed all the vitals and beeps, kept me comfy with warm blankets. the CT went quickly and comfortably with 2 technicians who were friendly and careful moving me.
Dr Harvey (think i have the name right) was
attentive with test results and kept me apprised with those and then i was sent home feeling very well cared for

I have to add that the scan was determined clear that night but next morning i had a call from another physician that the scan showed several fractured ribs and now I have some (?) months of rest to wait for ribs to heal

I went to my primary and Mercy for neck pain. Neither took steps to address what was going on with me, same heating pad and ibuprofen. Well at Anima Surgical they made sure that I left with knowing what the issue was (Tonsillitis) the RN Bart was so kind and compassionate my whole visit and needless to say I will no longer be going to Mercy.

Wow. I could just cry. Since when does a person say they had an amazing hospital experience?! Dr Cook, Scott, Katie, Stacy, Erin , my other Anesthesiologist that I can’t remember her name 🙈🥹 and the recovery nurse and ANYONE else on my case. Yall are the bomb. Your care was exceptional. Your hospital mission is on point and I 1,000,000% back it up!
Yalls sense of humor along with exceptional care and surgery expertise is worth traveling to Colorado From Missouri!

Just know I’m extremely grateful from the bottom of my heart. Most of all tho I am grateful to God. He answered prayers above and beyond what we asked for. How did I just get released (pain free) from the hospital 10-11 hours from the time I checked in for a “painful Abdominal” surgery as I was told Told they would try to manage my pain at a 4-5 and I came out and woke up in 10-15 minutes saying i had pain at level 1-2 and was asking to go home?! Only an amazing God could do that.

How can I forget the food. Wow it’s good!

A virtual Doc from Mercy Medical referred me to the Animas Surgical ER when I was having high blood pressure issues. When I arrived (already stressed out) the receptionist said to me. “You know this is an ER. This visit will cost you a lot of money.”

She was right. $1100 out of pocket for a few tests, five minutes of seeing a Doc who subscribed the same BP meds, I’ve already been on for 12 years.. Absolutely no resolution to my health issue for a high price.

What a first class hospital! The staff was beyond pleasant and helpful. “My” Dr. Wilkerson who replaced my knee didn’t even mind the goofing around I did when I brought my Milwaukee sawzall to “help out if needed”. Dr. Wilkerson has a “bed side” manner that promotes confidence in him.
And here’s what’s funny. My Bride and I often come to Durango in search of a 5 Star Dinner. NOW, this hospital is going to be a place I think of when 5 Star food! Seriously. The catered “hospital” food was hot, fresh, and would compete with any of the fine restaurants in Durango.
There is one thing that I would recommend: Several days later, into the holiday weekend, I had a couple of questions about pain and sleeping. I called the hospital number and got . . . And I got their answering service. I looked around to see if I was in a time warp of the 50’s - where was Mrs. Cleaver?! The first time the answering service didn’t relay my message properly. And the second time I was told that the office would get back to me on Monday - about an appointment I needed to bump back - on Monday. My 2-Cent suggestion is that they come into the 21st century and have a text line and have one of the doctor’s review that text line on holidays and on weekends, every couple of hours or so. Again, this is SUCH a small thing, but I think this would help.

Yep, ya gotta see my “dance” the night after I got home - still injected with great legal drugs! But I guess you can’t, since I can’t seem to download any video. 😅

The medical care itself was great. Kind and patient staff. The billing.... much less so. Twice I asked for an itemized receipt because I received three different bills. I was told my billing account was frozen until this was resolved. The next letter I received was that my bill was going to collections if I didn't pay immediately. I called to make the payment and was told that my account was already closed even though it was still in the payment window, and they were sending it to collections. Thankfully, they were able to re-open the account and avoid collections, but talk about some unneeded stress.

This hospital is a hidden gem! The ER staff is absolutely incredible and the bedside manner is probably the best that I have ever experienced. They provide very thorough care, and I can't recall ever waiting longer than five minutes to be seen by either a nurse or ER doctor. I have visited this ER at least four times and never had a bad experience. The staff from the moment you get checked in make it a very welcoming environment, and the nurses and doctors as so kind and patient. I really appreciate what a wonderful staff you have!
