It was really disappointing that the room for groups is only separated by a sliding divider. They had loud music playing the whole time we had a show trying to go on, plus the noise from the bar. They also only had one bar tender for the entire place including the bar and our event going on. People were waiting for drinks for an incredibly long time. The facilities are nice and clean and the parking lot is large, but trying to have an event over the noises from the bar was very frustrating.

Split review: American Legion Post 1 is a quiet place. I'm not a veteran, so I can't really give a review of that side of it. Tuesday-Friday is open to nonmembers for lunch from 11 am to 1:30 pm.
I visit here to enjoy lunch from the Full Battle Rattle Deli and the Culinary Arts Boot Camp, which trains veterans for jobs/careers in the culinarry/food sector. The New York deli-style sandwiches are tasty, fish & chips are crisp and delicious, and and there are chef's specials on Wednesday and Thursday. No dessert, but I rarely have room for more when I finish my meal.

Great place to hang out with friends, and have a drink. Prices are low, can't beat em! And the company is usually pretty good! Plus they support this great nation's Veterans!

The staff was wonderful, It gave off a comfortable vibe while in there. Drinks where AWESOMENESS, and you take a soldier when you leaving how neat is that. I would go again in a heart beat.

We attended a pool tournament here on Saturday that was very disorganized. Those running it had all the participants vote on rules being Bar or BCA! Then switched in the middle of the tournament. Chaos insuedIt and many people acted improperly. It is my opinion: the rules should have been established by the organizers and in writing to begin with.

The Legion represents finding their "tribe" again for vets. Returning to the U.S. and to civilian life in a society that is so individualistic is one of the hardest things for them to do. Having had the support and closeness of their fellow military and losing that in "coming home" represents the loss of "tribe." The Legion becomes family and provides something near to the community, to the closeness, to the bonding vets knew during their service. I highly recommend any vet, whether feeling "lost in America" or not, to come join this wonderfully kind and safe group of caring people.
