The organization has been there for me..I've been through there a few times and Iam very grateful for the people who run it...you get what you need out of this place as long as your doing the right thing and not causing trouble and or using drugs and alcohol. The new Transitional housing is a lot better because you get your own room verses being in a bunk bed full of other vets who Snore or who don't wanna shower and take care of themselves.

I received rental assistance with this organization at the end of 2021/beginning of 2022, and the gentleman/case worker (I unfortunately cannot remember his name) who helped me apply for assistance was awesome and America GI Forum helped me greatly through that rough time in regards to my finances.

However, the same CANNOT be absolutely said nowadays as I just very (June 2023) recently tried to reapply for the rental assistance again due to tough times. I called and spoke to a case worker (a Ms. Garcia) who told me to send all the required documentation in order to reapply as I had in the past. This individual even had an alloted time for me to come in to start the process, but when I arrived I was told by this person different information than that of our phone call, and that I had to call a different organization and make the necessary adjustments for me to apply once again with American G.I. Forum.
It was VERY unprofessional for this person to have me come in just to tell me 'no', even when I was proactive and gave them my personal information (military records info, SSN, etc.). They SHOULD have just called or emailed me beforehand rather than me making a trip downtown for nothing. Also, their attitude seemed uncaring and aloof when they were addressing me during our conversation, and they seemed like I was annoying them.
I did as they suggested/directed (make those aforementioned adjustments/phone calls, etc.), and called back to let that case worker know that I had made those phone calls/adjustments, corrections so that I could once again make an appointment. Once again, I was given information further, late which could have been told to me upon the first visit with this case worker.
I was told that I could not reapply for assistance because there was a 2-year wait/I couldn't reapply until 2 years had passed from the prior application/assistance I received. I have NO problem with rule at all, but again, this is something that could have been brought to my attention beforehand and told to me before I sent my personal, personal/private information to them. And again, this person's tone with me was not friendly and they seemed liked I was bothering them, especially when it was their fault for not providing me with this information beforehand.

This is extremely unprofessional and it seems like these individuals are very disorganized, untrained, and have no people skills when dealing with clients/veterans/individuals seeking assistance. I really hope they fix this issue for the sake of those future clientele who require help because I don't want them to be treated the same way I was.

The Staff EXHUME NOTHING BUT LOVE, CARE AND ARE EAGER TO PROVIDE YOU WITH ALL NECESSARY RESOURCES THAT YOU NEED!! Place interior does need a makeover, it needs Color considering it BRINGS LIFE BACK TO PEOPLE'S LIVES!! THINKING about Volunteering since they have given me SO MUCH! A SALUTE TO THIS PLACE!
