I had American Express debit card for years. When I told them I had to take my money off go to a different card because no one took them anymore things got ugly. I took one amount then declined everywhere I would call took over a hour telling same info to 3 people. This went on for 3 days get one amount then declined they finally say take lesser amount only one transaction per place it would only let me take 40 so I cost 7 in charges then all the gas to go to all the different atms then get locked out to meny transactions what a scam!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to this once great credit card company? Entering my 54th year as a member I now find that they have entered the world of being woke, caring more for defending the company's that they deal with rather than their customers! I am experiencing this more and more with overseas travel, as well as at home in the USA. I had a recent experience with CIBT ( A Visa company) with overcharges. Communicating with CIBT was non- existent, as well as with AMEX. Amex. had called me to discuss my situation leaving a certain number and ext. to return their call being I was not in. A few hours later I returned the call only having to leave a message. The following day I called again, and the day after that, and the day after that. I NEVER RECEIVED A RETURNED PHONE CALL after four (4) ATTEMPTS, UNTIL I WROTE TO THE CEO AT THEIR EXECUTIVE OFFICES IN NYC. I did send a letter rather than an email for I feel in some situations a letter gets better attention, and that it did, for within 25 mins. I received a phone call from a Bridget Garwood, assistant in the executive offices. This conversation and others that followed went nowhere. Basically, Amex was getting nowhere with CIBT and they credited my account. However, a few weeks later they charged my account back indicating they heard from CIBT with AMEX not wanting to know anything else, even though that I had submitted documents indicating my accounts paid in full informing them it was my belief that CIBT was devious and nefarious and hiding behind paper work. (If you are interested you can see other reviews on CIBT, NOT one has a (positive review). The total insult on this: Ms Garwood indicated she would be sending me an email by Dec. 15 outlining their decision. GUESS WHAT: I never received that email. AJM
