Right outside the aviation museum are float planes taking off, landing, birthed, and being worked on. Inside the museum are some beautifully restored planes to see. Many displays to look at, both indoors and outdoors. You are able to get up close to the exhibits. You can spend some time here looking at everything.

So much history! It really opened up my understanding of the importance of aircraft in Alaska. Wonderfully done, some things to keep the kiddos engaged, so the grown-ups could really take in the magnitude of the stories being shared here. From recovered plane parts from nearly a hundred years ago, to so many full planes inside and outdoors. A really moving exhibition, dynamic stuff. Thank you for being here and preserving these powerful moments in history! My family had a wonderful experience immersing ourselves in the amazing world of flight, (for hours!)

Cool place to visit. There are exhibitions about Alaska aviation history and WWII battle happened in the Aleutians. There are a ground control tower from 1930 and a Boeing 737 Alaska airline, both enterable. The museum is not very large, but one can spend hours reading through all the exhibition contents.

When you're in Anchorage, be sure to spend some time visiting the Alaska Aviation Museum. I find the observation deck, where you can see planes take off and land on Lake Hood, to be incredible.

This museum is at an exceptional location for aviation enthusiasts- on the shore of Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world. They have an observation tower that you can observe and listen to ATC while watching the action.

We were there twice - on a Sunday and then later during the week. There was much more activity on Sunday.

The museum contains a number of restored aircraft that show the history of aviation in Alaska. They also have a Boeing 737 that you can enter and tour with several other aircraft parked around the museum. Also has good gift shop with aviation swag.
