My husband and I have lived at Paradise Valley Estates for a little over five years. When we moved here we were in our mis 70’s and fairly healthy meaning no acute impending health issues. From the time we arrived we have felt comfortable, welcome, and well cared for. We live in the independent housing area and have dinner most evenings in one of the dining rooms. We chose a duplex home and made several changes prior to move in including adding window in living room, upgraded kitchen cupboards, hardwood flooring among other items.
Shortly after settling I suffered serious health issues that required a seven week stay in the acute nursing facility , followed by assisted living. The care I received was tremendous. Well trained staff, comfortable well appointed rooms, and attention to every detail important to a speedy and pleasant road to recovery. The whole time my husband stayed in our home accompanied by our little dog and cat.
I could go on describing all the reasons we both love it here but the list is exhaustive.
In closing our decision to move here was the best decision we could have made. We have absolutely no worries day by day. Love it here.

I am very disappointed that the main dining room has been closed for daily dining.

A major reason that my parents have moved out of PVE is that the main dining room has been closed down for daily dining. When they moved in to PVE 4 years ago, they were happy to have the short walk (with covered walkways) to the main dining room. Going to the dining room daily gave them exercise, a good meal, and a place for social interaction. Those benefits have been taken away.

PVE management does not seem to fully understand the importance of the main dining room. During the deadly period of covid, it made sense to keep the dining room closed and to provide residents with dinner delivery. But now, PVE management seems to be using covid as an excuse (also the fact that hiring is difficult) to avoid returning to normal use of the main dining room. PVE management is pushing the use of the Oak dining room, and appears to have no intention of reopening the main dining room.

The Oak dining room is not an easy walk from buildings 1000, 2000, 3000, and driving is not an option for many residents who no longer drive. (Providing a covered and smooth walkway would help make the Oak dining room more accessible.)

It seems that a lot of residents are not happy with the current situation.

I believe that PVE management, including Kevin the CEO, is trying to do what is best for the community. However, a few months back I heard my mother say that Kevin didn't care about PVE and was only looking to get his next job. She didn't come up with this idea by herself, probably just repeating what she heard from other residents.

PVE was a good place for my parents to live when they moved in 4 years ago. There are a lot of good attributes to PVE, and I hope that PVE management will improve the dining situation. It's too late to keep my parents at PVE, but I hope that residents of PVE will benefit from an improved dining situation.

Beautiful community. My grandmother lives there and it's just a fantastic and welcoming community. The grounds are very well kept and the apartments are huge. All of the staff, whether managerial or not, are friendly and helpful. They really care about their patrons and it shows.
