I volunteer with Keep Austin Beautiful in the Lady Bird Lake litter cleanup. Every other month, there are several sites around Lady Bird Lake equipped with trash grabbers, gloves, bags, and some safety gear. Volunteers can walk the shores collecting litter or go out onto the water with their own canoes. Some locations have canoe, kayak, or paddle boards loaners donated by the area rental businesses. They are well organized and I feel like the time I spend volunteering is time doing actual good, rather than standing around in chaos (a common theme in other volunteer orgs I've participated in).

KAB participates in the Austin-wide Clean Sweep every year which is a huge city beautification effort followed by a fun after-party at Fiesta Garden. KAB also puts on a fun volunteer appreciation event. Last year it was on a Capital Cruises boat and had snacks, beers, and prizes.
