Just passing through Lufkin for my husband's job and we found this spot. I needed a place to entertain my kids and this was the perfect place. My little ones enjoyed it so much. There was so much to do. The front desk lady was very helpful and friendly. There was no one hovering over you as the kids felt free to jump around as there were so many activities. And most of all it was free! I would love to go back if I'm in the area. I definitely recommend this museum.

My family came today not expecting much and we were absolutely blown away! It was raining so we didn't get to do much of the outside activities, but we still had so much fun. I loved seeing all of the personal contributions to this museum and the works from local artists on display. The lady on staff was so incredible and friendly. We've made the decision to come back when the weather is nicer so we can take in the outdoor portions of the museum!

Came here for my nephew's birthday party. It was almost a 2 hour drive, but it's a cute little museum with some interesting history to learn from it. I bought some postcards, stickers, a fridge magnet and a t-shirt.

There are pamphlets for scavenger hunts, sketching, etc, and plenty of activities for young children to enjoy as well. There is a play room where kids can make names or pictures with wooden pegs, make poems on a magnetic board, dress up like a fireman, or dress up in vintage clothing and play house. I would absolutely recommend bringing your children here, and checking out the gift shop too.

We only had an hour so definitely not enough time to check out the trails. We plan to go back. Very interesting history and present day findings. It’s free but take donations. So if you want to take a class or small group on a budget, this is the place. They even have a room for kids. Check it out.

Really interesting smallish museum which we visited on our recent trip down to Houston. Some exhibits inside which talk through the history and jobs involved in the forestry business with old.ohitos and equipment from the past. There is also good reference to the inequality in pay and jobs available for Women and people of colour in the early years and the segregation. Outside there is a steam train showing what would have been used and some additional equipment from the past.

Can't believe this museum offers free admissions! It's too good to be true.... bring your kids, they will love it! We drove 2 hours from Houston. Never regret it. Huge play and education areas for kids plus outside train model. Service is outstanding! The lady who was in front was very welcoming and informative.
