Took care of a homeless couple. Folks running it were a little rough around the edges but I suppose that is necessary when dealing with different folk. Have heard good things and would recommend them if someone needs some help.

I tried to go to this place to get help they are a total joke they want to shove religion down your throat I am not a religious person I don't believe I should have to go to Bible study to stay at a shelter I shouldn't be made to eat their food and give up my food stamps

Refuse to give you food if it's not during meal times, even if you're diabetic. Meals are mandatory. You are not allowed to have any outside food. They will pack a meal for you if you work. You're not allowed to eat at work unless it's their food. Not allowed to have foodstamps, or any gvnmt. asst. while living there. Must have Bible study BEFORE meals. Can only have 1 6oz. cup of coffee. One person will tell you they will help you get your ID, another person will tell you it's your responsibility and they don't have to help. There's an older man who has an attitude problem and is very rude. The women's dorm is filthy. They had a meeting last night complaining about the bed bugs. They said it looked like the dorms hadn't been cleaned in 6 months. He said there were dust bunnies piled up and the bed bugs are crawling into them. This is another example of people saying they help, but don't and expect you to live in filth. They foster an environment of complete dependency instead of independency. You are not allowed to even do your own laundry and if you have skin allergies, it's too bad. You have to use their laundry soap unless you have your own. Don't trust them.

It's a really good program and mission the bible studies are awesome that's really the only thing wonderful about his place. But if your new to the Lufkin godtel the staff and "men" that are actually residents will pick on the new comers making them do chores 3 times a day plus they don't even ask they yell at you and tell you that you have too. The food was horrible all the food they cook is donated and it's all expired. I'm not sure why these people are so ugly to new people if they want someone to know about Jesus that's the main reason for this place. But they are making it to where all the new people have to leave because of the disrespect. MISSION NOT ACCOMPLISHED!!! Act like christians like Jesus would treat people and maybe you will get more blessings and donations. That's the truth about this Godtel place. The twin city mission in Bryan, Tx is way better there is the salvation army in Tyler and Hwy 80 in Longview Texas. God bless

My wife and I stayed at Godtel for five weeks. The staff waas great. Food not so much. Alot of rules but worth it. it's a place to sleep, shower, and a way to save money to get back on your feet. If you don't like the the bible studies then ju
st go a pony and dig show. It's real simple. My wife and I are very grateful for Godtel and the staff that works there. Thank you Warren and Martin.

When I was at one of my lowest points in my life they welcomed me with open arms! I don't push a certain religion on you they're very very nice couple very friendly and it is very clean! One thing I loved about this place they do not allow druggies are drunks when you first come in they will drug test you and if there's any Trace at all you will not be allowed in so it's different from other shelters and I love that they keep tabs on each individual in the sense that there's no violence they take care of everyone

Disappointing really, I went there for help...and there bound by rules set by a board of directors. Which in essence undermines the compassion of the lord. Spirit recognizes the spirit and the atmosphere of things wasn't what I expected. I'm sure they do good for some...I was turned away, after going there though it was probably for the best . The place I am looking for needs compassion from the lords leadership not a board of directors.

Very Controlling and unwelcoming staff who discriminate against the Disabled and enforce slave camp rules. They require that you get a job and submit your pay, but kick you out if you go to work. I've been here for 4 days and they have been extremely unreasoning with clients even though the people staying here are Cool and just trying to get life pieced back togather.

They've told me I can't stay because I'm disabled, and receive social security. They have an Extreme Bias towards the Disabled and No Regard for Veterans ultimately. It's sad that this is the only shelter for more than 100 miles and they don't serve the disabled. Lufkin badly needs a shelter for disabled persons Seperately.
