This is the closest Catholic Church to my home and I called to see if I could make an appointment with a priest for confession and the lady on the phone told me that they had confession on Wednesday and Saturday. I told her I knew that but I couldn’t make it, so I wanted to set an appointment with a priest. She wanted to know where I was going to be, as if that’s any of her business, and when I told her I wasn’t going to be home, she took down my name and number to give it to one of the priests. Then I got a call from someone else later that day telling me they had my name and number written down by someone but wasn’t sure what it was for.

I called back the next day and I went through pretty much the same conversation and was told again that confession was only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It sounded just like the first lady I spoke to the day before. At this point, I told the woman that I’m going to reach out to another Catholic Church that will be more helpful. I think it’s terrible that this lady without even talking to the priests tried to withhold this sacrament. Maybe no one has asked for an appointment before and she didn’t know how to handle it, but I’d think that if someone’s calling wanting to talk to a priest, you figure out a way to make it happen. This was not a good experience.

The church is very beautiful and it’s a big parish.

I was in the RCIA confirmation program last year. The director, Eby Kurian, told us that he knew when you saw his emails and how many times you opened them. It was weird, intrusive, and very creepy.

We had too many problems to list with my confirmation and getting our marriage convalidated.

Clergy and other staff were mute when we requested help.

The director of RCIA often shared personal information about other parishioners in the class with me that I would not want others to know. He often made misleading statements and ultimately led us to abandon my confirmation and our convalidation.

Thank you Eby Kurian.
