I'm giving 3 starts the first day I visit went ok.I visit this location to see if i could get some help which was on 3/26/2025.I had all my paperwork work that on the the list. After my number was called I handed the young lady my paperwork she look over everything and then she ask for ledger which one of things wasn't on the list. Which I didn't have so I go to my rental office which I knew by the time I got back the office would be close. I return the next morning with the ledger. I was given a appointment to come back on April 7, 2025 @1:47pm for rental assistant.upon waiting i let the young lady know that I was there for my appointment at 1:47 after setting for some minutes I learn that there was not any more funds. Which she did apologize and then she says that Rebecca call me which I never received a phone call at all. Which I thought my appointment was for the 3/31/2025 at 1:47 pm by me being there on the march 31, 2025 they could have informed me that there not any more funds but to say you called someone when you know that you didn't. My God!! Praying that god touches the peoples hearts and please do better to informed people when it comes down to getting the help they need. The commutation ftom week of March 25, 2025 should of been said their is a possibly there may not be any more funds. That way people can find help with other organizations instead of telling someone day of their appointment. Especially when they can't call other organizations due to No funds are available.
God bless

The case managers and all the workers are racist. They only approve Hispanic people for assistance. Patsy was very unprofessional, my appointment had been scheduled since the previous week and she waited until i got there to let me know i was still missing documents(something she could have told me about in a simple email so i would have been prepared when i got there) she then decided to let me know that my application was denied at the front window instead of calling me back to her office like the other Hispanics. I will be filing a grievance and talking to the city about this. This organization is racist and if you are any other race besides Hispanic i wouldn’t waste my time going up there cause your application will get denied.

I didn't want to believe the reviews about this place but they are correct. The things you have to first go through to even begin to see if you're approved are horrible. It's totally unnecessary as well.

I had lost my job for fighting against a lifetime of rape & sexual abuse. After losing my job I begin to live off of my retirement because I wanted to make sure that I had exhausted all options before asking for financial assistance from anyone. Now because I didn't file within 90 days of losing my job & wanted to use all my resources first I was told that I was denied. It makes no sense AT ALL.

Had I went up there within 90 days & still had money I could've withdrawn off my retirement they would have denied me for having the money. The point is either way you're going to be denied. They were never going to help.

I understand that certain funds have stipulations as I have worked with government funding. I know there are rules & regulations to it but the point is there was no way for me to receive help from a crisis from the very beginning.

I went there one day & sat for a couple of hours. I left because I wasn't being seen that day. I went there the next day sat outside in the cold for three hours waiting for the doors to be open just to be told they couldn't see me that day when I got inside. I went back this morning sat outside in the cold for three hours until the doors open just to be denied. I feel as if it was unnecessary.

They could easily state these things on their website about what isn't approved so no one wastes their time. That would cut down wait times & unnecessary visits. I spent days getting all that paperwork together. I spent a lot of money that I didn't have as well. It's just the carelessness that I find offensive.

To be fired from your job for protecting yourself against rape & sexual abuse in order to keep your body committed to GOD, to then instead of going to them first doing the right thing & exhausting all your finances because you don't want to abuse the system then for them to deny you because you did not abuse the system truly is making me lose my hope in humanity.

I am a Pastor. Many people depend on me. I can't even preach any longer. For me & my children to become homeless because I want to keep my body committed to GOD & not be raped. To reach out to the church for help then for them to deny you is truly making me hate this world. I cannot lie about this. I can't even be holy.

I cannot work. Giving your life to a company & then them finding out your fighting against rape & them firing you for it is too traumatizing for me to go to the workplace ever again. Then to go to the church & for them to not even care is beyond me. I cannot believe the hell I am going through all because I refuse to no longer be raped & I'm standing my ground on keeping my body committed to GOD.

It's one thing for people to do this to you. It's a whole different thing for the church to do it to you as well. All they're going to say is this is the approval/denial process for funding & they hope you can find assistance elsewhere while no one else has funding.

Like I said, carelessness. They do not care.

Listen to the reviews when they say they only help Mexicans! I went in to get assistance on a very busy day at which I was able to get in for an appointment to see a caseworker the next day. When I went to my caseworker I was told I only had a day to provide certain documents that was missing or my case would be closed. When I asked how to retrieve those specific documents they wanted till the last minute at 10am to tell me I had to try and get them from my landlord by 11am. So they pretty much only gave me an hour to retrieve my documents! Luckily my apartment is very quick and friendly and told me they sent the documents over. I attempted multiple times to reach back to my caseworker that day and a few afterwards and just got the cold shoulder. As I was at the facility speaking to other individuals who are which were Mexican they told me they’ve never received any treatment like that and they normally will work with them. I literally had to pull information out of my caseworker the only thing that was told to be was that I would hear a decision within 3 days but still never heard anything back even though I did everything that was asked! I did not want to listen to others giving me negative feedback about this place because I wanted to go off my own experience. Even if they denied me I would’ve left it alone but it was how I was treated and what I saw. Also when I was leaving in my Uber my driver who was black told me they denied her but asked if they could take her photo to post online to show they help a diversity of people because of the negative reviews saying they don’t help black or white people

Front desk staff is rude and insufficient yet expects the general public that are in a crisis & have been waiting all day to exude patience, gentleness, and self-control when greeted with dismissive and condescending approach. Nothing about the staff that works there exudes Christlike customer service. I have been there 2 months in a row. Unemployed and have yet to receive any type of service. I was advised today that I needed a ledger to prove rent balance yet had Notice to Vacate that shows rent balance. When returning with the document, I was told bc I left the bldg that I had to obtain another ticket and then refused service bc I questioned the competence of the staff and didn't allow the staff to talk to me like I was an Illiterate ingrate. Now I am labeled as having an "attitude." If you're going to represent an organization based on Christ, I'd recommend the CCA staff embody the fruits of the spirit and kindness IS NOT one that they exude!

*Update* Wasted another trip just to be told that i make too much when I'm jobless. I added a roommate to the lease mid October and since thats the case CCA wont help me. What a rip. What's making too much? One person having making barely make $2000/m to pay over $1800 for rent and utilities. Good to know you help families become homeless.

As far as the process for assistance the receptionist is not efficient. She wastes alot of time chatting with security. An unnecessarily extensive amount of time passes before she calls a number with no one at the window; no one being helped. 5 people in 40minutes. 8 people in 2hours. Average conversation at the window is 3 minutes. Took 2hour break when it's usually 1. People have been waiting since the morning and end up getting told to come back the next day.

This will be my 8th time coming and waiting, just to be told to comeback tomorrow. I've been told there a cut-off for when you lose your job. That doesn't make sense to me. I for one waste 8hrs and gas, driving and waiting, just to do it over again the next day.

People go through great lengths and what little resources they have to be here asking for help while under stress and unfortunate circumstances. People are in need and shouldn't be taken advantage of, thrown away, and pushed to the side. This inefficiency and nonchalance is not Christ-like and loving and corrective changes need to be made. Most people that come in can get help and through the process because they're stuck in this waiting loop.

This isn't a problem as in having alot of people, but wasting time and inefficient and ineffective in relation to the people you're supposedly seeking to help.

Please don’t waste your time. I’ve gone to this organization twice & both times were in my most dire need of help. No assistance was provided. I was referred by Texas help “211” I tried calling before traveling a hour to the destination and the phone line does not connect you to a live person. I completed an intake application & provided a brief summary before arriving. You pull a number then take a seat until your number is called. I arrived at the facility at 9:52 and received a ticket #19 The number that was being served was #11 when I arrived. The guy who held ticket #11 also had #12. I figured he pulled two tickets just in case he may have missed his number. Then #’s 14,15,16; where all called and no one got up for those numbers being called. I assumed they had got up and left the building already. By this time, it is about 10:30. Then #18 was called and assisted, which was complete in about 5-7 minutes. Between 10:40-10:52 no number was called. So I kindly walked over to the window asking a general question about financial assistance for utility bills and was handed a paper explaining what was needed and was advised that cutoff time is 11 a.m . So since I had already waited an hr. I advised the receptionist I would be interested in pantry also. She told me to wait until my number was called so I went to have a seat. She finally called my number (19) at 10:57. She then said that the pantry would be closing in about 2 minutes and I will have to come back on next business day. I was livid! Total waste of time. She asked if she could get all of my documents to start a profile so that it would be inserted into the system for when I return. I left the paper that she gave me then told her I will not be returning and and have a blessed day. The receptionist has a very passive disposition, and nonchalant attitude. I understand this is a first come first serve establishment. However, if you know there’s a cutoff time of 11 on Fridays, that means whoever is called up until 11 should still be serviced. I read other reviews mentioning some similar situations and many discussing race. I didn’t want to be the one to pull any race cards but it’s very evident in the approach. They’re only helpful to a certain group of people. So whoever is responding to these reviews please don’t get on my comment saying otherwise because this place definitely discriminates and shows no compassion. It’s a facade.
