I've been going to this center to help feed my family and we have been very grateful. I was so excited to bake chicken tonight. After I finished defrosting the chicken and when I was about to prepare it, I noticed an awful smell. Why do you folks give chicken that had an expiration date of 08/19/2024? Do you all know how serious food poisoning is or you don't care?

I have been lucky to be able to volunteer at Paz de Cristo so as to help feed the hungry. This is a judgment free place and the food is excellent. I mostly do the ice so I am not involved in the preparation of the salad, fruit salad, dessert, main course, or sides. What I do know is that the food is very tasty and high quality. People just check in at the desk and demographic information is taken in order for Paz to be able to reach out to the City or Cities of Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Scottsdale, etc. in order to solicit funds. The guests are always nice. Not all of them are homeless. There is a very nice system in place where someone can check in, sit down in a cool cafeteria type setting, be served a drink by a drink runner, or dinner by a plate runner, and enjoy a nice and hearty dinner. After eating, the guest get to have a to-go container with the same main dish, plus a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and maybe some fruit or cookies. Each night has a different group of volunteers. I get to serve on the first Friday of each month. I do a lot of praying while I am there because it must be tough to be out on the streets in this hot weather.

The kitchen is an A+ rated kitchen. It is very clean when we arrive and very clean when we leave. With so many volunteers, our shift usually is from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at the latest. If you have water, clothes, new underwear, new socks, blankets, etc. consider donating them here.

So I've put off submitting. A review for awhile now.. I'm conflicted because I really like this place. I like the staff there. Including most of the police. Yet I have a few qualms. 1. The food being served at time's. Is going bad the taste/smell. Give it away at times. 2, Two different times men felt compelled.. To expose their chest. While sitting across from us. The first time it happened. A Latino man just took. Off his shirt while rummaging. For another shirt in his backpack. My daughter is 10 years old. She turned her head as I. Covered both of her eye's. He left the building before. I could actually inform staff. Crazy part is that the. Males restroom was very close by. Then on Monday a Caucasian older male. From what my daughter stated. That his shirt was closed. Yet as soon as we both. Sat down he opened up his shirt. I was unaware that this man. Opened up his shirt. Right after we sat down. Why does security/police not . Pay more attention to the surroundings? Because I notice they're too busy. Socializing with everyone around them. There's a mentally ill man. Whose always throwing my daughter. Dirty looks after an incident. That occurred a few weeks ago. Although the staff are hospitable. I suffer from PTSD and. I am constantly on high alert. While in the dinner hall. I'm always on high alert. And I keep my daughter close to me. Otherwise Paz de Cristo is awesome.

If you genuinely care and want to make a difference, there's always room at Paz de Cristo. They provide a wealth of services to the homeless community.. every volunteer who participates strives to make a difference to the community.. truly the blessing of God is there to help those in need.. we thank you for all the staff and for this foundation to allow us to give back..

The security John & Detective Campbell turned away my friend and I away & told us to get off the property because we had a service dog. Told us that our dog isn't a service dog, & knows what kind of breed and size a real service dog is. He didn't even asked the 2 questions you're supposed to ask. Heard good things about this place but after my first experience it was awful.

I contacted Paz De Cristo because my 37 yr old son has a terminal brain tumor and was given 2.5 to 5 years to live (that diagnosis was 1.5 years ago). My son is homeless in arizona and on disability. Ashley started out great and said she was gonna be able to help him. She gathered a lot of information and then never got back to me and stopped returning my calls. I'm very sad that my son has to spend his last part of his life living in his car in that heat. I'm disappointed in this place that gave us false hope.
