My family rented this venue for an event that happened to coincide with a larger event that the city was hosting. To ensure we had parking spaces for our rental, the owners blocked off several spaces right at the venue. We were delighted to hear this as we were expecting many attendees. All seemed to be going well.

However, on the day of the event, we experienced numerous individuals entering the venue with a code to the door to use the bathroom. When we informed each one that we reserved the place for a private event for the day, each one claimed to either be the owner, be a relative of the owner, or know the owner in some other fashion that apparently gives them unlimited access to the property in spite of it being reserved by paying patrons. In addition to this frequent annoyance, someone pulled into one of the reserved parking spaces. I kindly informed this individual that we reserved the venue for a private event and that included the parking spaces. She stated that she was, guess what, a relative of the owner. The owner was called at this point, and I pointed out to her that the space was reserved for our event. She attempted to explain that she was the owner and that meant those were her spaces. I pushed back by again explaining that those parking spaces are reserved along with the venue for the full day. She backed off and asked her relative to relocate. Finally, nearing the end of our event, one final individual attempted to enter the property stating they were the owner’s child. Again, we stated the building is reserved for a private event to which the child answered, “Want me to call my dad?” We allowed the child to use the restroom, but we wanted to speak with their dad, nonetheless, to express our displeasure with the repeated interruptions. Let’s just say he didn’t care what we thought.

Suffice to say, we will never rent this space again. It was an awful experience because the owners do not respect your privacy. Imagine an Airbnb owner agreeing to have someone stay at their private apartment. Then, the owner and all of their friends invade your space by accessing locked doors and ignoring the fact that you are paying to have the space along with the privacy it affords. Unimaginable! Any reputable, reasonable, and otherwise business-savvy owner would never allow all of their friends and family to invade the privacy of paying renters. In fact, these good owners would be adamant that their renter’s privacy is a top priority.
