Hard to recommend. Stayed here for a little over a month, don’t expect a ton of help from this place. Shelter food is old and expired. Any clothes you need are picked out for you, no one has ever gone into the Boutique they have on property. It was nice being spread out and not all on top of each other, but unfortunately I left because they stacked 8 girls in a 2 bed 1 bath apartment. They had plenty of available apartments and didn’t need to stack all the single women in two apartments.

I was already having problems with my 3 roommates eating my food without permission, being disrespectful and passive aggressive, slamming doors and playing music on their phone out loud at all hours of day. I didn’t feel comfortable putting myself in a situation with 4 more girls doing the exact same. 2 of my original roommates were disgusting. Wouldn’t shower or do laundry, had food in their room. The room smelled so bad I kept their door closed.

There’s fights on the daily. There’s moms here that are verbally abusive to their toddlers, and you hear everything between those paper thin walls. Staff doesn’t take those complaints seriously even when you have recordings of the verbal abuse happening. Staff will pick and choose when to write you up. I got a write up not making my bed, but I hadn’t made my bed in weeks and then they randomly choose one day.

Don’t expect help getting around for apts or job searching. There’s a shelter van but they use it for themselves. You’re on your own trying to get around, they don’t help with bus passes unless you have a job. They helped me with forms to get my forms of ID and that was it. They literally don’t do anything else for you. They will give you out dated resources or resources that don’t apply to you.

It’s a flawed system that keeps people who don’t deserve to be there and are just using them while turning away and exiting real victims of domestic violence. Some staff will agree that some policies and procedures aren’t fair and aren’t to our benefit. I guess it’s up to you if you feel like this could be a helpful place to get your life together. Just don’t come looking for help, or somewhere where you can get rest. You’ll be in a constant state of alert with the slamming of doors (from staff and roommates) you’ll be uncomfortable and anxious and still searching for help.
