Be careful don't tell them all your plans because they will screw it up for you like they did me by accusing me of using drugs. Be careful with this place it's not a bad place to go for a few months but if you have good plans an you start rolling really good an saving all your money they will screw you up and find a way to exit you. Like they did me.

This place is amazing they have so many different programs that really help people get on their feet! Samaritan Inn definitely deserves more than 5 stars!!

I stayed here 15 years ago (before the upgrades) . The rules were very strict but it was understandable considering there were over 300 people in their one facility. I heard a few chronic complainers there. Positivity is important! We had 3 meals a day, access to a phone along with personal messaging, as well as a roof over our heads. I got a voucher for clothes and shoes. They even gave vouchers for the small local transit. I had everything I needed. Stop taking things for granted! Understand, this is possibly the best shelter in the country! If the staff seems rude, consider what they must deal with. It’s tough when most of the “residents” are complaining. If they are nice, then trust me, they have the patience of angels! Keep in mind, you are not owed this, but they are helping you if they are able. If you need help, I believe you can handle not drinking or doing drugs, if you can’t handle it, maybe you need rehab instead. I understand addiction to an extent. I smoked for 40 years. I finally quit 3 years ago after trying for 10 years.

Shelter is extremely competitive, and many things can blacklist you from ever having a bed. One bed for one hundred homeless people doesn't work. Staff was rude and impatient.

How much a year do they spend on drug test I wonder ? 🤔 Really think aboht that for a minute they rather waste away money to practically judge them when they could use that to help those they judge.. I just feel like there policy is a little discrimitory when they allow someone to have one drug in there system and get accepted and not another. Like weed is a psychedelic sugar kills more people than any drug in the world caffeine is the most addicting drug in the world if they didn't know. If your going to be drug tested randomly I don't see why that is so is all I'm saying. The first couple of times I went in was 3rd then 4th and they always took mulitple people until I failed the drug test then I waited 30 days and tried again. I was 1st and they just so happen to not do intakes that day then I was 2nd two times in a row after that and just by chance I guess they only took 1 person in. Misfortune or discrimination either of which I dont care but I'm only telling this so people can know that those people are anything but good Samaritans. They do it for the money because its there job not because its out of the kindess in there hearts. They'd pass judgement and turn there backs on Jesus Christ if he failed a drug test apparently... the most pitiful thing I've ever seen in my life it was an hour before they were going to open they had people inside and a young boy was laying on the ground freezing when It was below freezing outside and the employees inside just stood around and watch them I had to give him a blanket. On the contrary one of the previous times I went this one white lady saw us sitting outside waiting in line in the cold and allowed for us to come in and treat us with coffee like a human being should be treated despite the building being open to do intake. The comments the good and bad and it will tell The Narrative of who these people are and what they really do it for... and for the smart people who say sugar and caffeine is in a drug you might want to go back to how it's harvested and extracted and put into products no different than any other drug. The morale of the story is this that some of their employees who have good lives in and a nice job apparently all conspired against an individual who was homeless and desperate in need shelter because they past judgment and are in a position of power to exercise there will. Sounds like the behavior of a peasant more so than a good Samaritan so I'm just here to tell those who get rejected by this place or they turn your back on you don't worry it's not the end of the road it's not the end of the line you're in God's hands I have my own place own car atoms surrounded by loving and caring people a few months later all glory be to God 🤲🏾

The Samaritan Inn does seem like a great place if you’re homeless and need a place to stay. However the reason I’m not giving it five stars is because it’s so freaking hard to get a spot there, especially if you’re a male. The only chance you have is if you go at 4 in the morning which I can’t always do since I work most of those days or it’s just way too early, and even when I arrive at 7 before they do intakes at 9 there’s already a line of people. I’ve tried countless times to get a spot but to no avail. I’ve had to resort to sleeping in my car because I can’t afford to move in anywhere at the moment since rent is very expensive. Keep in mind they only do intakes Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, call the day before and be there at 4 AM if they have an opening. Maybe you will have better luck than me. I will still keep trying though

Unfortunate events bring you to the Samaritan Inn, but everyone stays positive, understanding and is helpful in every way possible.
From great donated food, a welcome basket of goodies, even clothing and shoes if you need them are provided. Financial classes are a must and you even have a resume writer and job resources.
I will be forever grateful the Samaritan Inn was there for me and will continue to be for others.

The place it's self looks nice and clean. But the ppl that work there are cold and heartless. One in particular he is a receptionist his name is Caleb when I called the facility on Saturday I was told by Caleb that it was a 1st come 1st serve bases so I should get there by 4am which I did then when the building opened it was that he ( Caleb) had to serve his Collin county ppl 1st it was made to sound like it was at least 4 beds available which was not true it was 2 and Caleb kept taking ppls info knowing they had no beds and just a fyi if ur coming from surrounding cities (ie) Dallas, Irving even Plano please have some type of transportation to get from the shelter if you don't have a car or Uber or Lyft money because at the end of the day you will be stuck out there in the woods. So please do ur research before trusting anything being said on the phone and ask for names when you call and speak with someone* I HOPE THIS HELPS
