I found ACO a huge help especially when I lost my job unexpectedly, I, being a single mom with two kids, could only get help from ACO right away. All the members especially Michael Donohue (Director) is amazing He is a sympathetic, helpful and kind hearted person.
I couldn’t submit online all required docs in 2 days and my electricity was about to disconnect, I took the papers to the office to show proof. Michael saw all the docs then called me back to inform pledge will be submitted on time to stop disconnection
Also they provided help for daily use items like tissues, detergent, toothpaste cloths etc
We can shop on our convenience in food pantry for whole family. I tried other places but they either were out of funds or there is a waiting list in future. I couldn’t see any other personal right away like I was able to at ACO
I feel like they did make a big difference in mine and my kids life. It was like taking burden off my shoulders. Their job seminars and how to improve credit, apply for home loan etc that I attended, was very informative and helpful to the whole community as well

They keep changing how they do things, and every time they change, they cut out a lot of people in need.

Now they are apparently cutting out Saturdays where you can go get food, in favor of 2 or 3 days during the week.

People like me cannot get to this place during the week and really DEPEND on food banks that are open on Saturdays. Now, once again, they are cutting out a large number of people who will NOT BE ABLE TO GET FOOD anymore. Including me.

Every time they change something, it seems to be for THEIR benefit, not the people they claim to help.

One of the best kept secrets for thrifty shopping in the Allen and Plano area! They are open every first and third weekend of a month. On Thursdays, everything is $1, Fridays $0.50, Saturdays $0.25. You cannot beat this place in price, practically my whole wardrobe (including many professional items like pants and blouses) has been sourced from here. They include a great selection of jewelry too, and some unused name-brand items along the back wall for a severe discount. There's no changing room, but with prices this good I'm more willing to take risks. When something doesn't fit I donate it back for someone else to love.

It's run by volunteers, and proceeds go towards the Allen Community Outreach program. You benefit your local community when you shop here and I really like that about this place. It's ALWAYS busy, do not be surprised if you have to wait in line first thing in the morning if you go around 8:30 AM.

They allow TWO reusable bags per shopper (not garbage sized bags) to limit length of stay so more people have access, and they have a rewards program. Every $10 spent earns you a punch. It's always worth the trip for me, and I make the drive from Frisco.

This is a great second hand shop. You can't beat the price. I wish they had a bit more space because when it's busy it's a bit squished. They could also do with having a bit bigger area for kids toys. I took a picture of the dates they are open in 2019.

Staff always great there, it's the people that shop there., hardly anyone says excuse me, I've had something taken right out of my hand as I was looking at it. But overall, glad they got rid of strollers and wandering children. The way people push through there a child could get hurt.
