After reading the few negative reviews we were hesitant about what to expect but the Sunday 7:00 a.m. Mass allowed us to get an early start on the drive back home.

We were warmly greeted at the door and found the church to be lovely in its simplicity. The stained glass windows were pretty. When the sun rises and shines through they look clear. The tabernacle was easy to locate. The crucifix was well done. The communion line was orderly with no confusion.

There were huge windows looking out to a courtyard so wherever you sit there is something nice to look at. There were tapestries of the Saints hanging up throughout the Sanctuary.

The priest exuded holiness and we felt blessed to to be able to worship with this community of believers.

I do not attend your congregation. I live nearby and drive past your building daily. The drivers I see pulling into your lot are extremely rude. They are always either doing 25 the entire way on any road approaching, or will aggressively tailgate even if I'm speeding myself. Today I was sandwiched between both.
*Another one today, driving well under the posted 30, sudden stop and turn into your parking lot

We were hoping our visit would be a blessing, but it didn’t quite work out that way. If I were a parishioner here and knew how much money was spent to construct such an atrocious building, I would not be very happy. It’s a massive Church, built in the “Church in the round” style.

My nine year old daughter said “this is the most confusing Catholic Church I’ve ever been in... well, it’s actually the most confusing Church I’ve ever been in, period, and I’ve been to Gateway”.

We converted to the Catholic faith three years ago and as I travel for work, I get to experience many Churches and different liturgies throughout the US. This was far and away the ugliest Church I’ve ever been to. I was quite shocked as this is in the middle of one of the most affluent communities in DFW. The money they must have spent on this place is a scandal considering what they could have done to make a beautiful Church. This is anything but.

The crucifix for the procession was a cross with a silhouette of Jesus carved out in the middle, while the crucifix in the middle of the Church was a large modern art travesty where Jesus didn’t even have a face. My son said it looked like they had a crucified Slenderman up there. The layout of the altar and pulpit was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen in a Church (you truly have to see it to believe it). There wasn’t a single pane of stained glass, no stations of the cross to be seen anywhere, no sacred art, no saints, and the entire layout screamed “chaos”. People sit behind the pulpit, behind the altar, and are clearly not comfortable having to twist their neck around to see what’s going on. Of course the tabernacle is nowhere to be found. Coming in the front door (can there be a front door when the Church is designed as a spaceship?), I didn’t see the tabernacle anywhere. When you walk In, you're engulfed in confusion, which is NOT what one should feel when they walk into a Catholic Church. People travel from all over the world to visit the beautiful Cathedrals of Europe for a reason. They marvel at their beauty and many people become Catholic because of the beauty the Church makes in their architecture. This Church would send people running.

The liturgy of the Eucharist was an orgy of confusion as people swarm the middle of the circle. It’s not the people’s fault they have to deal with such as awful layout, and they do the best with it they can.

The music they chose could have been written by the people who wrote songs for Carmen (think of the worst schlocky 80's Church music you've ever heard). When Catholics try to make their liturgical music more like Protestants, it never comes off well. Protestants know what they're doing with the modern music scene as their entire service is focused around music and the sermon. We don't need that. We have the Eucharist. Stick to sacred music and hymns which are done with excellence and leave the light show and fog machines to someone else (there aren't actual lasers and smoke machines there, but I wouldn't have been surprised).

As an aside, one of the priests chastised my wife before placing the Blessed Sacrament into her mouth, as we receive on our knees and on the tongue. He was clearly not happy about this and let her know she wasn’t doing it right. This caused her to cry on the way home, but I was already so disappointed in the liturgy and the Church itself that I wasn’t surprised at all that he would do that. My review is not based on the emotional response of this situation either.

I’m sure the people at this Parish are fine people, but they would do well to save their money, destroy this building, and create a Church with Jesus back in the tabernacle, front and center where He belongs, and do away with this confusing monstrosity.

I am not a raddy traddy. I love the Novus Ordo, so I'm not a "Latin Mass only" guy who's just lambasting any Church not doing Mass ad orientum. It was just so disappointing to see how much money went into building such a monstrosity, especially since I'm a parishioner of the FW diocese.

Awesome place! God is there every Sunday and welcomes you with open arms and love. Plenty of mass times. I just wish I’m there was a better area for my kiddos during mass and have a 40min mass option.

I visited this community twice (for daily and Sunday Masses) and felt as if I was going to a concert instead of the Mass on a Sunday. It was so noisy before and after Mass. Nothing like the church. I will find a church to go from now on when going on vacation, for the community is definitely not the church. It is sad to see many churches nowadays that have lost the tradition.
