Why we chose to foster or adopt: We did not choose, God chose us. We tried to have a child of our own for almost 6 years, even tried fertility treatments. I wanted to take a break from the treatments for physical,emotional,financial reasons and just about a week later we learned of a new born baby (Benjamin) who was placed with our friend, but she was not able to keep him. She asked us if we would consider adopting him- this is how we learned about fict of kin placement.
Why TruLight: TruLight was suggested to us by CPS- we had actually started the licensing process with another agency in San Antonio, but it just didn't feel right. It didn't feel like home. Once we learned of how close TruLight was and that the owner Sondra used to work for CPS we knew it was gonna be the right fit. We knew we would have the guidance we needed to help us navigate the ins and outs of adoption through the state. It wasn't until our first licensing class that we found out the company's mission statement was the bible verse James 1:27. We knew only God could have lead us here. Sondra was so welcoming and friendly. She took the time to get to know us and our why behind adoption. Tiffany helped us field all the paperwork and was our cheerleader to keep us on track. Mallery was so sweet and caring with our babies and really cared about not just how they were doing, but how we were doing. She genuinely wanted to know that we were adjusting well or if we had enough diapers or if we needed any formula. We can not say enough about once you join TruLight you really do become family. There are always support groups, family functions and even parent retreats to help you rest and connect with others who understand exactly what you're going through. The best part is being a part of a strong Christian community that will pray for and with you to guide you through the entire journey.

Trulight has the most caring staff. Mallory was so sweet helping us get licensed and you can’t help but smile just listening to her talk. Tiffany has answered every happy call, complaint, worry and much more. Jennifer is amazing working behind the scenes. My foster kids have had Donna and Megan as caseworkers and we’ve loved both. They both were quick to answer their calls and get back to me, support me in all ways and go above and beyond. Megan has even got me needed things on her off days at random hours. Trulight truly cares and stands behind their mission. If you are looking for a tight knit, family feeling agency then this is the one. They might not have all the perks and whistles as a bigger agency, but they have the personal touch and they have ten times the heart. We are excited to be on this journey and can’t wait until we have our trulight family cheering for us when we adopt our kids.

We have been licensed about 4 years! 4 adoptions and the greatest staff! Karista has been our Case manager for most of the time and her expertise from experience is unmatched! Sondra and the entire Trulight127 staff put their heart and soul into these kids and provide them with safe and loving homes!

We were originally licensed in 2000 in Massachusetts. Being a military hfamily, we have been licensed in 5 states over the years. We have been licensed in Texas since February 13, 2017.

We have adopted 3 girls, in Hawaii Nov 23, 2004, in Maryland Feb 7, 2013, and Texas July 30, 2019. We have another adoption scheduled for Apr 14,2020.

We chose foster to adopt, because before joining the Army, my husband was a case manager with a foster care agency. We saw a need to help, and realized that we would be able to provide a stable, loving home to these children. Over the years, we have fostered close to 30 children, over 20 just in Texas.

When we first moved to Texas, I found a group of friends that were actually fostering through the agency that Sondra used to work at. We immediately felt a connection to Sondra, and trusted her completely. We could tell that she was very passionate about what she did. She radiated God through her works. We started the process and were almost licensed, but unfortunately my father got sick. We put our licensing on hold, while I moved out of state to help with my father. After he passed away, I returned to Texas and wasn’t in a position to finish the process. By the time I felt ready to get the process started again, Sondra had left the previous agency, and started Trulight127. We knew in our hearts, that we had to follow Sondra’s mission. We had to start the process over, from square one, but it was so worth it. We completely believed in TruLight127’s mission and both Sondra and Yomi’s hearts. We have never felt such a sense of family and support, as we do with TruLight127. They truly have been a Blessing to our family and to the community.

Trulite is truly a joy to work with. What an incredible ministry, giving kids a chance and loving them unconditionally. All kids matter, and everything Trulite does reflects this. They do everything possible to create loving environments, train families, and facilitate lasting relationships so these kids have the best possible chance. My life has changed immensely since working with this ministry.
