Been coming here for two years now, I am definitely impressed with this gym. This place has really good staff members, very polite and professional. The gym inside and out is really kept up and clean. This place has free weights, cable weights, steamroom, outside swimming pool. Also have tennis court, pickle ball court, basketball court and racket ball court. And they have a day care for your kids.

I regret having to write this review about the YMCA, as I truly appreciate the organization. However, my experience with the San Antonio location has been extremely frustrating, and I have never encountered issues like this before.

I live in San Antonio for work, but my home is in Houston. I wanted to set up a membership that included my partner, his children, and my children. Unfortunately, I faced numerous problems while trying to add my partner and his kids to the membership at the San Antonio YMCA. Miss Stephanie, the membership coordinator, provided me with key cards that frequently did not work. I was uncertain whether my partner was properly added to my account, especially since he had issues using it at the Houston branch.

Ultimately, I decided to cancel my membership in San Antonio and join the YMCA in Houston so my partner and our children could have access. Despite my partner being an active member who visits the Houston YMCA almost daily, the staff in San Antonio—particularly Mr. Anastacio Torres and Miss Stephanie—refused to communicate with the membership office in Houston about my situation.

There is nothing in the contract that states I must use one location over another, yet my efforts to resolve this issue have dragged on for over three or four months. During this time, I have been unable to work out at my YMCA, and I am struggling to find a solution. Regrettably, I have decided to discontinue my membership at the San Antonio location. Additionally, I had to dispute the charges with my bank to receive a refund, as the San Antonio YMCA continues to claim that I owe them money.

The San Antonio location has refused to assist me and has failed to provide explanations to my bank regarding the disputed charges. Despite this, they insist that I still owe money and am in default concerning my membership, which is simply not true.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance in resolving this matter. I have reached out to international services and corporate contacts and have emailed several individuals regarding my situation. While I love the YMCA in Houston, my experience at the YMCA in Thousand Oaks, San Antonio, has been disappointing. They have refused to allow me to work out, ignored my emails and text messages, and have not reached out to my Houston location for help.

Furthermore, Miss Stephanie and Mr. Art have flagged my account, preventing me from working out at any of the San Antonio locations. They have refused to lift this flag or communicate with headquarters regarding my case. Despite several members being listed under my account, they continue to hold my account in limbo, even though my partner actively uses his membership in Houston almost every day, which is our primary location.

I just wanted to provide an update on this review. I visited the YMCA this morning and spoke to Mr. Alex, an amazing associate who directed me to speak with Mr. Anastacio Torres (also known as Art). Mr. Alex was very professional and a truly wonderful person. I have nothing but positive feedback to share about him and Mr. Ruben; in my opinion, Mr. Alex deserves a position equivalent to that of Miss Stephanie or Mr. Anastacio.

During my conversation with Mr. Anastacio, he informed me that he had spoken with the vice president and the president of the YMCA, and they will not allow me to be a member of the San Antonio YMCA. They requested that I cancel my membership in Houston and make them my home base. Long story short, I did everything I could to remain with the YMCA, but due to the incompetence of the management at the San Antonio Henderson Pass location, I am now a proud member of Gold's Gym here in San Antonio, Texas. I look forward to my first class today at 6:45. I hate to depart from the YMCA in San Antonio, but I tried my best to stay a member, and it just did not work out.

After expressing to management that we needed a second boxing bag to promote a healthy exercise environment, my concern on needing another bag was accepted and is still being considered. Additionally, the extended hours as well as the evening classes offered help out alot throughout the year.
