I wish that I could have a raving review for the 100 black men. But the reality of my experience has been below my expectation. My first negative experience happened when I was founding, a new public charter school in San Antonio for black and brown children and I was seeking mentorship for boys. I was told it wouldn’t be possible for the amount of boys that I saw mentorship for, so there was no partnership. Dr. Milton Harris was a board member on the same public charter school (San Antonio preparatory) for four years. Dr. Harris had an affinity for my husband, always asking why he was volunteering at the school. Which is interesting, because no board members volunteer their time at the school other than official board meetings. He and Xavier Toson, of the African-American Chamber of Commerce work together to tear down the dream and hard work of one black woman. Tell me how that supports the vision of the 100 Black men. Interestingly enough, the 100 black men of San Antonio have adopted San Antonio preparatory now that it is run by black men. How would the black women feel about that?
