My O&M specialist was awesome. Keila was very knowledgeable and detailed with instructions when I navigated with my white cane. The white cane training sessions gave me the tools and confidence to travel independently as a person who is vision impaired.

The lighthouse for the blind on Lackland AFB is absolutely horrible. I came into shop for my squadron and over heard there New manager speaking horrible to her employee's. I'm definitely going to report her to the base commander!!!...These are people with disabilities that deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. She should be ashamed of herself!!

I’ve tried to get help for my partner from here. He has a point of contact that took 2 months to get back to us. It took 3 reach outs get someone to call back to get scheduled for the white cane/mobility training which even that was brief and not much. They don’t have life the skill classes, they said it was because of covid and that they would be starting it up again soon, it’s now been going on 4 months. Also no word about counseling either, when you go from having full sight to shadows it can be very depressing. This organization has not been anything I thought it would be. I’m trying to find other resources however it’s proving to be difficult as I am also his 100% caregiver and work a full time job. San Antonio, in general is not low vision friendly

This place is much more than expected. So many great programs are offered. I dropped off donated items to them and met a couple of the administrators. They truly care about their cause.

My mother is elderly and blind from glaucoma. She also suffered a stroke and has stroke-related dementia. We have had several visits from staff from the Senior Program assess her home and install tactile dots on devices to make things easier to operate. Staff was also kind enough to provide, at no charge, lipped plates, microwave bowls, and, best of all, a talking timepiece.

Most recently, post-COVID, staff has maintained contact to ensure that my mother’s needs are met in terms of assistance for the blind. Leah, in particular, has been very attentive to my mother’s needs.

Thank you, San Antonio Lighthouse!
