And for my girl's Birthday. I wanted to give her an up close and personal experience with her favorite animal, the sea turtle and come to find out. She had no idea they had something like this in the state of Texas. To rehab to temporary hospital. They even have small auditorium presentations of the information on what they do here and what they do for the sea turtles. It's something extremely gratifying that something out there is like this not only to help but to protect sea turtles. I can tell you without a doubt, she had a blast. Not only learn of what they do here, but to be mere feet away from her favorite animal. There's no doubt, we will definitely be back. Thank you for this experience!! P.S. She adopted Cowgirl!!

Awesome place to checkout at South padre Island. Great place to visit if it's a rainy day or if you want to do something other than the beach. They have turtle feeding daily, and the staff is very friendly and full of knowledge. If you walk along the small pier to the 2nd location, look for an alligator that hangs out along the shore.

Our first time here and the hospital just opened up, too. I wasn't sure what to expect but found enjoyment in watching them swim around and reading about their stories. I nephew who is an adult absolutely loved it. We'll be back again.

I like turtles.
A must visit when in South Padre Island!
To see these majestic animals up close and learn about all the harm humans are doing to them was mind boggling.
The Turtle Talk was great and the speaker was wonderful with tons of knowledge.
The turtle hospital was good and cool to be close to them in rehab.
Don't forget to adopt a turtle and stop in the amazing gift shop to further support this important work.

If the scheduled feeding is 10:30am....plan to arrive at least 30minutes before that. The entry is manned by 1 volunteer/staffer.

The gift shop and staff have a pretty funny vibe. For instance, deep in the shop you'll find a cat postcard...why? For laughs. Does anyone buy the cat postcard at a sea turtle rescue place? I mean, maybe. I'm sure there's some funny story behind it. But all we noticed was the funny juxtaposition of it all.

Beautiful aquarium inside, several large tanks outside, and open air amphitheatre. There's a brief little boardwalk over shallow water where you can see plants and minnows - guessing an occasional bird or snake too... but we didn't notice any.

The turtle getting fed when we were there was missing a flipper and didn't really have much sight left either...so it had to fight fish in their tank to eat the shrimp from the trainer/staff/volunteer/person. Made my heart a little sad. But also was a bit moving and caused some donors to pledge support.

Great operation. Check feeding or info/animal encounter schedule before visiting. If you visit when nothing is scheduled - you'll be done very very quickly. Half the magic is hearing about the mission from passionate advocates.

Very neat place, glad there is a hospital that takes care of injured sea turtles. The staff is very friendly and full of knowledge.

This place is great to visit once if you are in the area.

The biggest thing that I learned is how horror looking sea turtles are when they open their mouths!
