As managing editor of the Red River Sun, I love doing stories on Childress Healthcare Center! It's always fun to chat with residents, who I've known my whole life. I also enjoy the fun events Donna and Amanda put on. We are so blessed to have compassionate healthcare workers like them and their well-trained staff! Being there on a regular basis brings back good memories from my childhood when my sister and I visited there often with our mom, who was a teacher and made treats for the residents. My Godmother was a also a patient here, and they took such good care of her.

This facility is not a place to put your loved ones. The acuity of some of the patients is far too great for the staff that they have. Corporate continues to send patients from other towns that no one else will accept. There is not enough staff to provide adequate care to the patients. They will not increase pay for the direct care staff to try to retain or entice staff. They only care about numbers and not people.

Reynalda Juarez and the highly skilled nurses gave my brother a second chance at life. He was discharged to Childress after refusing a second amputation at another hospital. Thank goodness he was! The nurses treated the leg every single day and he never had to lose it. He was far from family, and we were fortunate to find in Childress a nursing home that was also a hospital with a high level of care. My brother's mental illness was treated there for the first time in his life. He was kept clean and shaved and enjoyed frequent haircuts. Reynalda was a maternal presence; her office was always open to him and he knew he had a friend. When she said, "He is family to us," I knew she meant it. She treated him with respect and lovingkindness. Together the staff created a stability he had never known. We are grateful to all of you.

I have spent the last 20 years working in long term care. This is by far my favorite facility! The staff works together, celebrates each other and cares for our residents like their own family. My grandmother is a resident here. She loves it!

Janet and I are so very grateful for the care she received during her stay at the Healthcare Center in Childress. She became very attached to some of the care givers and fellow patients. That said she is very happy to be home and sends her best wishes. I join her in that. Please tell everyone thanks again.

My grandmother lives in the nursing home and is undergoing therapy in which they are very thorough and very in tune with her physical and emotional needs I am very grateful that she is at the nursing home. In addition she loves the food and the bingo games as well as other activities at the nursing home provide . She loves the CNA‘s as well they take very good care of her it is a joy to visit her and see her so happy .

Childress Healthcare center is a wonderful place. I have many friends who live there and the activity Director, Donna Brown is exceptional!! I would recommend this facility to anyone. It definitely rates 5 Stars!!
