I am a case manager and was needing assistance with a client for a night stay. Apparently the individual has to have an ID. (We are working on that.) Meanwhile, we arrived at 5pm only to rudely have the door closed in our face when the employee was told the individual did not have an ID. Their recordings and website do not mention an ID is needed. The only information I could obtain was that check in began at 4:30p - 7pm.

Was turned away from the food pantry on December 6th, 2024 because it was not Thursday! The lady behind the glass had a look of disgust on her face and kept repeating go to guyon sanders or the park and neither has a food pantry and she turned around and walked away. There were about 10 bell ringers in the office and I turned around and said this is why you guys are ringing those bells, so they can turn you away empty handed, embarrassed and heartbroken. The city of Amarillo ruins lives and the salvation army is a crooked organization please don't give them money. Their hard and nasty rules trump my hunger and it took everything I had to get there. I walked away destroyed embarrassed and humiliated and I felt ashamed for asking for help and being a less fortunate human being.

Let me give details of the policies as nothing is here about that. On the first day you go, you can stay for a week without meeting anyone. Then after that on every Tuesday you should meet with a case worker who will decide if they should extend your stay for 30 days (this is done typically 99.9% of the time). Then you have to leave after 30 days counting from the first day you came, unless you have a job. There are separate portions of the building for men and women. You only see each other at dinner (5 pm) and breakfast (6 am). Lights off by 10 pm and you have to wake up at 5 am. You have to enter by from 4:30 pm to 5 pm to eat dinner. If you come after 5 pm you'll be let in after 5:30 pm when dinner is over, and you won't get to eat. You can enter until 7 pm, unless you have a job and it needs you to stay past 7 pm. You have to leave after eating breakfast at 7 am. So no one can stay from 7 am and 4:30 pm. But most of the time, the women will be let in at 4 pm and the men at 4:30 pm. There are separate gates for men and women to enter the facility. You can't bring your own bedding and you should do chores everyday unless you're old.

How does the Salvation Army help the homeless? But yet leave out the people that really need the help how can you let a homeless elderly woman a stay outside in the cold on a WALKER!! because she missed a day I feel like the Salvation Army can do alittle better as supposedly Christian church organizations so sad what homeless have to go through when the homeless suppose to help them!!!

I call and call for utilitie assistance. Leave a message with a man name Terry it's been a month and still no calls back here IAM Friday morning at 9:15 am on Google it says open until 3 pm this Christian based help the homeless and low income here in Amarillo Texas is the worst salvation army in the world and I've been around the 🌎 world almost and it's true no help here at all if I can get help with my gas bill. The staff is AWESOME! The director on the other hand has no compassion for anyone. My 3 yr old daughter and I stayed there for 2 weeks and she never took the time to meet us my daughter loves to give give people flowers and one day she gave all of the staff flowers when she tried to give Brenna one she rudely said that she was allergic to them. After 2 weeks of being there and meeting no one other than the daily staff I started work I was told by Breena that I would no longer be able to stay there because of my work hours so my daughter and I had to leave. 2 weeks there and received no help what so ever I was not allowed to stay because I work certain hours I've called twice to see about. any rental assistance that might be available and was told by the director there was no help to be offered. She wasn't willing to work with me at all and it's crazy that you're not allowed to work certain hours. I was very grateful for the time I was allowed to stay there but the director is hateful and really needs to get over her self
