Everytime I've gone here it feels like they pick who they want to help cause I've got disabilitys that can't be seen be yet they act like I should be out there working everyday when I can't due to disabilitys and on top of it they are always giving me one excuse or another on why they can't give me anything more then a homeless bag when I do make it into there office. I think I'll be making a few calls to someone higher up that does thier funding or something along that lines to have them investigate a few things. I mean I understand that my id isn't a texas id however I have a house here in port lavaca and I've lived here for almost 6 years now so I don't get why they help elderly and families no problem yet I walk in and it's always one thing or another this time they wanted me to go sign up for the workforce center but why is that when my foodstamp case worker even said that I'm exempt from having to do that for foodstamps so not sure why I'd have to for them I personally feel as though they turn people like myself away figuring well either go work at Formosa or something even though due to disabilitys I can work really at all and it's been like this almost everytime with them in the 5 years I've gone their and the few times I've gotten help from them. And they say that I can't come in to often yet if I go in 3 times a year then they want all my paperwork redone or because it's another year I have to resend all my paperwork back to them which is ridiculous

It sucks I live in Boca chica ,Jackson county on the Bay I pay for matagorda county no help with water bill I'm struggling I live 18 min away from port lavaca and 1 hour from Bay city had to find gas to get there today and no help either

I had a health emergency and applied for rent assistance. The lady who assisted me, (sorry I can't remember her name), was very kind, professional and empathetic. I received help immediately and was also offered food. Thank you so much.

They don’t allow any community service hours, so if you’re trying to get volunteer hours for scholarships, don’t try to go here.
