Everything is so delicious, fresh and homemade. Best vegetable soup I've ever had! The ladies who work there are so sweet. We had a large group and they were very helpful and accommodating. Everyone in our group had delicious soup and sandwiches. I can't wait to go back again!

This restaurant has been a staple to the Oak Ridge community for several decades, and is worth checking out.

The Food: Every day, they serve different styles of soup, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. During this visit, I tried the chicken & dumplings soup, with a side of brown bread, and lemon pie. The soup was incredible. Perfectly tender chicken, and good portions of it. Cracker Barrel ain't got nothing on this place. The brown bread also is worth getting. I've tried the white bread before, and it was okay but bland. The brown bread has so much flavor to it. Next time, I'll skip dessert though. I don't recommend it, unless you're into cafeteria style desserts.

The Dining Area: A little awkward to navigate, but they have a decent amount of seating, and tons of historical decor on the walls about the Manhattan Project days. The place could use a facelift, but it's got plenty of charm, and feels cozy.

The Staff: Very friendly, polite, and helpful.

Restrooms: One for men and one for women. Seemed decently clean and well kept.

I love The Soup Kitchen in Oak Ridge, great food, atmosphere, employees are always very nice and respectful, and the restaurant is always clean! I personally am affronted by this person - Andrea Felton (that by the way has no Facebook or Instagram or TikTock or any other social media account that I can find to ask her what prompted this) has posted two reviews about the masks, cleanliness, etc… I don’t live here, I’m from WV and have been coming here for 5 or more years with other family members and friends and we have never (not once) experienced what is described in those reviews.

I came in the middle of a walk on the Greenway East out of Cedar Hill Park with my son. He had chili and I had beef taco soup--both delicious! The hunks of fresh bread were huge! I would say come with a big appetite if you eat here!

Probably one of my favorite Reuben sandwiches in the area. They have a Facebook page where they post their daily menu. It's normal for them to be sold out of a couple soups and specials by 12:30-100 P.M. Aside from a few staple soups like chili, hearty vegetable, and chicken noodle, their variety is different everyday. Prices are good for the portion size received. Their homemade desserts are a great ending to a fantastic meal with my favorite being their carrot cake.

I have been a loyal supporter of, The Soup Kitchen. One of my favorites was the chicken noodle soup. I don't know what's happened but today the broth had no chicken flavor, it was just oily. I couldn't finish. My son ordered the chili. When l asked how was it, he shrugged and said it "kinda tasted watered down or something." I had not shared my experience.

One of the best values you're going to find. I hidden gem up in Oak Ridge! Excellent soup great assortment. The bread is incredible. Prices are great service is great. It's worth the drive and if you're in the area it's a must stop. Already trying to find reasons to go to Oak Ridge just so I can go here.

Note* If you come at lunch time it will be busy and there will be a line. Just saying

I have eaten at soup kitchen for 15+ years and have always liked it but today dear friends my experience was not good. As I was eating my chicken noodle soup a big roach crawled across my tray. I got up, told an employee and she said “yeah I’ll tell the manager”. It was like yeah we’ve seen them no big deal. I went back to my job told my coworkers and two friends said they saw them too in the last couple of months. This really needs to be reported. I wish I would have taken a picture.
