We are newer to the area and have only owned a lot for a little over 4 years now and have only had great experiences with everyone at Base Camp. They are always helpful and so nice to our kids when we come in. We love the community here!

A beautiful, great private community formed 1976 with @2500 sites, cabins, lots, 80 mi of roads to locations, an honored & recognized Volunteer Fire Dept. at Crystal Lakes who work w/other depts as needed. Helipad in Red Feather Lakes but also at landing strip at Crystal. Abundant wildlife and clear lakes...great fishing.

The land I bought is beautiful. However, the restriction on what I can do with my own land are oppressive. Hammersmith who is the management company and the board want you to ask permission for the slightest improvements. If you want to build a shed you have to ask permission and give a detailed (very detailed) plans on what you build. You have to store your RV off the property for 7 months of the year. Fire pits are approved only by the board with a recommended builder for that. I could go on and on. Most of it really I get it, but the length of detail for just a 10x10 shed, I said screw it! I built NOTHING. Had I known I would have bought some place else.....

This place has really gone down hill in the past twenty years. Could be and should be a beautiful place to visit and live, and be a profitable business. But miss management and over usage has not been kind to the area. Sorry I just realized I was describing all of Colorado.

For the past 3 years we have been coming to Crystal Lake we have found nothing but a friendly staff , always doing everything they can to make an enjoyable place to be . The office staff always has a smile and welcoming attitude ..

Families be aware!! My friend, a single mom with two boys ages 6 and 8, was fined $300 by these nazis for fishing at the lake with the boys. A simple warning was not enough! She received a curt letter accusing her of trespassing and poaching ( I'm surprised that she and the boys were not hung on the spot!).

It saddens me that we have people living in Colorado who have such an archaic outlook about our natural resources. Long live the Barney Fifes of the Crystal Lakes Fishing Board.
