Good place to live but I am on a fixed income and my rent has gone up $1100 in 3 years. I love it here it is a good place to live but paying $4250 for a shared room is pretty steep for me. I was told I could leave if I did not like so I am leaving it 2 weeks. I will miss it here but I cannot afford it.

I had the opportunity to have my mom live at Crossroads Senior Living at Northglenn. The staff, nurses and caregivers are some of the most amazing people I have met. They truly care for their residents. My mom learned to enjoy their company and rely on their care. Even reaching out to ask for walks.
I enjoyed meeting my mom's neighbors and visiting with the residents.
The staff and caregivers were with her to the very end and have been a comfort to me. Telling me how much they enjoyed her stories of archery and Egypt.
I highly recommend this community for your loved ones. It has a small town feel. They know every resident by name - not a room number.
I wish to thank everyone there for the care they gave my mom and every resident.

On 4/8/2024, I visited this nursing home to meet with a realtor and a resident for a house closing. Unfortunately, the encounter was marred by the extremely rude behavior of the front staff.

Upon arrival, I was met with a dismissive attitude from the front staff personnel. The front desk girl was new and was trying to be very helpful. Despite my attempts to engage in a polite and professional manner, I was met with curt responses and unwelcoming body language. This treatment persisted throughout my interaction with the staff, leaving me deeply unsettled and disappointed.

As a visitor to the nursing home, I cannot help but worry about the treatment that residents may receive if this is the standard of professionalism demonstrated by the front staff. No individual, especially those in vulnerable circumstances such as the elderly residents of a nursing home, should be subjected to such rudeness and disrespect. I am a frequent visitor to multiple long term care facilities, assisted livings, nursing homes and other residential care and have never been treated like this.

It is crucial that all employees of healthcare facilities, especially those entrusted with the care of others, adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and courtesy.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and trust that steps will be taken to ensure that no one else experiences the same treatment in the future.

My mom loved living at Crossroads. All of the staff made it feel like home for her. They were very attentive to her needs and always kept us in the loop on how she was doing. The facility is very well-maintained and all of the residents seem so happy. We have recommended Crossroads to many people and will continue to do so!

If you care about your family and friends, I would strongly suggest you NOT put them in Northglenn Crossroads. We moved my mother into Crossroads in 2021. The reason for the move, she had dementia and was not able to remember to take her medicine and also she wouldn’t eat. We tried to have in-home care at first everday to help with her morning medications, bathing, cleaning, etc. This, however, did not work out as she needed 24-hour care. At first Crossroads appeared to be doing well taking care of her. Then my mother reported to us that a man was sleeping on her floor in the middle of the night, and someone was shaving and using her mouthwash one morning. She also reported to us that someone was stealing her pop and candy. We were able to confirm this as we stocked her refrigerator with 24 cans of her pop and the next day, we went back to drop off additional items she needed, and all 24 cans of pop were gone. This happened a second time with 16 cans of pop. She reported this to the head people at Crossroads as did we. They didn’t believe her or us. We then put a video camera in her room, and this made the head person very angry and vindictive. After much discussion with corporate headquarters, issues got worse. Watching the video camera everyday we began to realize that she was not getting her nightly medicine unless she went to dinner. She did not go down to dinner very much because she didn’t want to because she was afraid of one of the staff that worked in the kitchen, or she would just forget to go down due to her dementia. This person she was afraid of gave her showers periodically and we noticed excessive bruising on her arms and hands, which could not be explained. When my mother refused to take showers with the help of this person the bruising started to disappear. We were advised by my mother’s doctor to call Ombudsman, an organization that is an advocate for the family or senior for help with abuse in assisted living or memory care. We then called Ombudsman and explained to the person what was taking place and that she wasn’t getting her medication, and she had excessive bruising. When we talked to the head people at Crossroads regarding her medication, they showed us a sheet that had times when her medication was given to her. These records did not correspond to the video camera as at the times they indicated they gave the medication, my mother never left her room and no one entered during several hours before, during and after. They showed the same records to the Ombudsman person, and she believed them, so they were no help either. After the Ombudsman person came, Crossroads stopped giving my mother her morning medication, this is also confirmed by the video camera. My mother had a pacemaker, a heart valve replacement was on blood pressure medication, blood thinners and pain medication for her back, which she had pain because of a fall she had years before. We immediately moved her out of Crossroads and moved her into our home until we could find a new place for her to moved into. She died of a heart attack before we could find a place. Please do not put your family or friends at risk and find another place for them.

Crossroads Northglenn is clean, updated nicely and they are always providing an array of activities. The food is made from scratch and the staff is very attentive to the resident's needs. I love this place and the people who work there. You can feel the difference when you walk in the door and are greeted with smiles and hugs. It truly feels like home.

The Journey
My 93 year old mom moved to Denver to live with me after my stepdad died. My mom had never lived alone in her entire life. We did well for a year until she had a stroke. She recovered nicely and then went to rehab for 35 days, and got a lot back. But she was not going to be able to go up and down stairs or be left alone every day when I went to work every day. So I began the hunt for the best place for her to live, relatively close to me so I could be there with her as much as possible. Crossroads at Northglenn was the choice I made for her. She gave me the evil eye for several nights when I left her to go home. I thought she was going to hate it till the day she died. Within a few days, she was making friends with both the staff and the other residents. She always had a smile on her face. The staff at Crossroads has a different attitude than most facilities. From management to nursing to activities director, they all treat residents like family. Cristal, one of the nurses, called my mom Baby and Mother called her Baby. They hugged every time they saw each other. Everyone speaks and smiles to everyone. The activities were full and diverse. They would come get Mother and take her to whatever was going on. They have music a couple of times a week. A piano player, a group of singers, a combo of horns and singers. One time they had Oscar the Pig who did tricks. Do you know how many people in the older group had a part of family who had a farm with animals with memories of playing with animals like this. The room was packed. The lady who brought Oscar was full of information about pigs and how she got into this business. It was so interesting to everyone. One day, I came to see Mother and went to her room and she wasn't there, so I headed toward the Activities Room and Dining Room, and there she sat with about 8 men playing poker. Tim, the activities director said, "Hey, she's doing pretty well." I said, "Well, she's never played poker in her entire life." And Tim replied, "Well, then she is doing really, really well." Groups of women mostly would sit out in the living room or front parlor and talk. Two weeks ago, my mom had another stroke , but this one was extremely bad. She came back from the hospital to be in hospice there at Crossroads. All of her friends there came in and sat with us and laughed and cried. Every single staff person came in in tears and comforted all of us and her. I was amazed at how much they cared about MY MOM. With 100 people to look after, and all the issues that are in all of these facilities every day, it was amazing to me that they were so individually concerned about each one. They did make my mom feel at home, and they made me feel that way also. I am going to continue to go there, and bring my Weimerauner, Presley to visit with everyone. Not only my mom's passing is leaving a hole, but they are leaving a hole in my heart. Thank you to each and every person at Crossroads of Northglenn. I will never forget any of you. Susan
