The assisted living center at Bonnaventure of Thornton is a high quality living facility for seniors. The Director Gloria and front desk receptionist’s, Evita were very friendly, accommodating and helpful, reaching out to assist with every need, when I stayed 2 weeks as a guest with my mother who has lived there for 2 years. Leo, the driver provided transportation to the Dr.’s for my mother in a safe and caring manner. George handled s maintenance / safety problem my mother had with a fast response. The activity director’s are caring, friendly, and creative with numerous activities throughout the week. The food was
good most of the time but on some days it could be improved, however choices of different foods were available. I highly recommend Bonaventure of Thornton as a safe and caring place to live with a community and family atmosphere.

Bonaventure of Thornton was a very disappointing experience for my mother. The facility is beautiful and always clean, however the quality of care is concerning. Although the assisted living care staff is caring and friendly, they seem over worked. It appears that management may be disconnected from daily care. For example, my mom was unconscious in her room for over 24 hours in Assisted Living. She finally woke up and was able to call for help. From there she spent 3 weeks in the hospital. I just wish they had better policies in place to prevent this from happening. The staff acknowledged that they noticed she didn’t come down for breakfast, lunch or dinner, yet no one made the effort to check on her. I really hope management will use this as an opportunity to put a policy in place to ensure residents are adequately monitored.

I have had personal interactions with the senior leadership of this community.
All I can say is they extended substantial acts of kindness to people I care about, who they knew were NOT going to be living in their community.
If they are willing to give kindness for people who don't live there, imagine what they'll do for those who do.

Pre-Move-In Five-Star Review from 2018 has been updated below.

Mom mom has lived in a Bonaventure community in Washington for the past three years. Prior to moving from her house into the nearby Bonaventure community, she had lived alone for nearly 20 years. She was isolated and lonely. Since moving to Bonaventure, Mom has found a community of friends with whom she shares meals and afternoons filled with bingo and beanbag baseball. She's happier and healthier than she's been in years.

Bonaventure provides a safe, warm, family-like environment that helps its residents live as independently as they are able. They are served healthy, tasty meals, receive help with housekeeping chores, and can participate in a variety of entertaining activities.

As the soon-to-be residents of the new Bonaventure in Thornton wait for construction to be completed, Diego, the executive director, and his staff work hard to get to know each person. They organize a variety of group activities at locations near the new Bonaventure help build a community of people who are well on their way to becoming friends.

11/24/2019 Update
Bonaventure Thornton is a lovely community and my mother, who has been living there since it (finally) opened in May 2019, is happy with her apartment.

However, ongoing staffing and facilities issues, as well as slow food service and cold or barely warm food temperatures are problematic. It's not unusual for Asistant Director to be serving meals (and sometimes doing staff laundry) because of the short staffing. The bowling alley has been "closed for maintenance" for several weeks. The promised group activities have been seriously limited by the lack of an activity coordinator. The acting coordinator is also the shuttle driver, which means that organized on-site activities are impacted when the shuttle is needed.

These problems were to be expected for the first couple of months after the opening in May, but after six x months you'd expect most of the "bugs" to be worked out. Instead, significant problems are persistent. Finally, email communication with the Executive Director about these and other issues do not get any response; one-on-one conversations get an "I'll check into it" with no follow up. The Assistant Director works tirelessly but cannot address the multitude of issues.

I still believe that Bonaventure is a great place for my mom but I am becoming increasingly concerned about the slow resolution of the problems in the community.

We moved my mom to Bonaventure and it has been great. They treat her like family and make sure she’s happy and participating in community events. Evita is outstanding and is always helpful when I come in. Jamie made sure we understood how things work and what level mom would be and she was patient and answered all my questions. The music you hear when you walk in the building is beautiful, whoever plays the piano should do that everyday. Thank you Bonaventure for making mom feel at home and loved.

Came to visit my grandpa in the memory impaired unit and the lady named Tiffany seemed to have a bad attitude and was being mean to the care people. The care people however was really nice and offered me and my grandpa a beverage and a snack. I also over heard the care people complaining to each other about a girl named Lisa and how she is bossy and unhelpful and that they don’t like her. But otherwise, everything was fine.
