Omg let me say this place right here is A lifesaver!! their not even candy. The staff here was very friendly and out going and willing to help me Navigate thorough the complex courts system with the mount of paperwork. So i could tell my story of how I was Assault for being openly Gay. Couldn't done it without your all help!! I thanks God for you all coming into my life when I need help the most

This place isn't here to help you. I'm here with my family including my disabled nephew and infant nephew. We were asked to leave because of being supposedly "disrespectful to staff". We've done nothing but avoid other tenants as much as possible to avoid issue and all the times our food has been stolen, our things have been tampered with and broken, homophobic remarks have been made towards us, the staff have done nothing and have essentially told us to get over it. The staff coming to knock on our door the day before at 12 am to threaten us with being kicked out over us supposedly taking pictures of other tenants which were proven to be false is not considered to be disrespectful but my mom informing a staff member that our deaf nephew can not attend meetings with the staff who holds meetings with the children in the shelter due to directions given to us by his licensed therapist is considered grounds for us to be removed. We were advised to get a legal representative from a staff member at the women's outreach center out back as well as the director of SPAN advising us to take legal action as well. They can kick you out if they don't like you and that's the bottom line they don't have to have any real reason because according to my booklet we have not broken any policy. As a matter of fact, we've stayed away from other tenants due to issues between us, not going upstairs to eat, not participating in groups that weren't required due to feeling unsafe and not wanting unnecessary tension because the staff refuses to try and fix any of the problems within the shelter and for some reason that's us being disrespectful. They've been searching for a reason to get us removed simply for not liking us because the day before they tried to tell my mom she wasn't allowed to eat anywhere outside of the kitchen when all she did was eat a bowl of cereal on the front porch, they tried to accuse her of taking food downstairs so they were already trying to find something to get us for beforehand without proof or reason. The lady Amy will try to make you think she cares but she doesn't feel any empathy towards clients, if she comes to not like you for whatever reason she will make sure you and your children will sleep on the sidewalk that night. Other tenants can enter your room and have and staff will sweep it under the rug to keep from getting in trouble, any items left outside will be damaged and the staff will not do anything to the tenants who destroy your stuff and you, as a battered woman with no resources will be required to replace your things that are destroyed due to the negligence of the staff. They don't care if you're suffering because they aren't, they're some of the most inconsiderate people I've met and don't deserve to work at place where they're supposed to be helping people, they do it for a paycheck and have never actually suffered themselves. Save yourself the pain and find a different shelter, you will end up spending more money and will lose your sanity in the process because you don't get the help that's promised here.
Update: the staff which claimed that we were being disrespectful is the same staff who claimed we took pictures of another tenant which were proven to be false, she didn't like that and decided to find the most vague reason to get us removed and according to words straight from Amy "she's going to believe her staff" essentially meaning that if a staff member doesn't like you they can lie on you and get you removed, they have no proof of any altercation occuring between my family and any staff members, as a matter of fact we have emails which prove we've been nothing but cordial with them as well as witnesses who were present during phone calls with staff so don't waste your time here they don't help battered women they put them on the street because it's the easiest option for them instead of actually doing their job.

The advocate MJ was very rude and terse. Going to a safe shelter I’d expect compassion and warmth. She was very unprofessional and extremely harsh in her communication. There was more compassion from the desk clerk at the hotel we finally ended up paying for ourselves, after this advocate ensured a hotel bc the shelter was full, but then said no. Others at the shelter were very professional and kind.even if there was misunderstanding, she could be more professional and kind in her manner.🤨

I was rongly evicted and acussed of doing something I didn't do and was put on the street with my 5year old grand daughter. I hope they all sleep well. Because they were 10,0000%rong.
