This shelter is amazing. They are doing wonderful work and completing an impossible mission. I adopted my first dog ever from them just a few days ago and the experience has been the best. The made sure Poppy was comfortable with both me and my partner, and set us up with a new bed and lots of allergy-specific food plus vaccines as part of her completely reasonable adoption fee. I am so grateful for the love and care they provided my sweet Poppy when she was their ward. The facility is simply the best I’ve ever seen. If you are thinking of adopting, donating, or sponsoring, please do it!!!! And if you lose your pet and they rescue it, be grateful because your pet was in the best hands!

We were looking for a new friend for our buddy after he lost his brother last November and was seeming to be a little lonely. We were interested in a young female that was a tuxedo. We saw Hocus on the website and decided to visit. The staff and volunteers were absolutely amazing. The process to check in was easy and process explained along with all we needed to know about her prior to visiting. We knew almost immediately that this was our girl. We had some questions about her health history and the staff were helpful and when more explanation was necessary they called the manager. The manager was great and gave us all the insight we needed. We decided to move forward with the adoption and everyone was so helpful and great throughout. Thank you so much for all your dedication to all the animals at the shelter.

Amazing staff and experience. The shelter was run very well and the dogs are taken very well care of. I saw too many AMAZING animals there still needing a home too. If and when we adopt again, we’ll look to Longmont Humane Society first.

Adopted Poppy today and she’s already been a dream and the staff at the shelter helped us out a lot with providing us with information and supplies.

I'm super disappointed in the rodent care at this facility and in the staffs customer service. I run a small animal and rodent rescue sanctuary and we came to get these 2 long haired guinea pigs out of this humane society.

The front desk today 6/28/24 was run by a super young and disgustingly rude employee named Hailey. She proceeded to put us in a room and drag the animals out of the carrier and toss them on the floor. 1st sign that they had no idea or training about how to handle guinea pigs.

I looked at both of the animals and saw that one was matted all over his body with poop, pee and literal garbage. I told Hailey and she walked out pissed off and just said ok and nothing else.

All of the employees said over and over that they don't have an exotic vet to deal with them so its not their responsibility. You don't need an exotic vet to make sure they're living in a CLEAN ENVIROMENT.

They brought in a dog groomer who was the only sane person there and agreed that this wasn't ok. She shaved the garbage out of his fur.

I told her that the other one had snot coming out of his nose. He was wheezing and could not breathe. I said he was sick with a respiratory infection, I said putting them in the dirty carrier with nothing but hay dust was contributing to his sickness. She said no he wasn't sick and that wasn't irritating him. She THEN came back minutes later to say he WAS sick and they gave him medicine for his respiratory infection prior.

I told her I didn't want them going back into the disgusting carrier and I put them in my clean carrier so they could hide. Hailey proceeds to come back, scoff at us and throw them out of my carrier and shove them into their dirty carrier. She then says she doesn't think our carrier that's meant for 2 animals is good enough to bring them home. The supervisor says it is and Hailey pretends to be friendly all of a sudden.

I didn't want to pick a fight with Hailey because she looks like a pre tween/child volunteer but I think she's going to end up hurting animals down the line. Her behavior and handling needs to be reevaluated by a manager.

I've attached a photo of the dust Hailey threw in our carrier. There's not even hay. I just want to point out that hay dust is detrimental to all rodents. They need actual hay, not hay residue. I can't believe I have to say that.

I'm also attaching a photo of the sick animal they insisted wasnt sick until they corrected themselves and said I was right!!! I think he would have died under their "care" if we didnt pull him out when we did.

I ask that this facility do more to ensure that their rodents arent covered in feces and garbage. Do more if they're sick!!!!!!!!! Feed them better, GROOM them!

Is that really too much to ask for?!!!

I had the privilege of meeting the Deputy Director Cliff Cullen, and I was blown away! His dedication to animal welfare is incredibly motivating, and it permeates every facet of the company. In addition to supporting the animals, the director creates a friendly and inviting atmosphere for both volunteers and guests. I strongly suggest going to view their amazing work for yourself!

I had been told the Boulder facility was better, and my visit today proved that was so. There is no information for the various cats and kittens. There was only one person available, and her being very busy might be the reason for her rudeness. I was not the only one that experienced her rudeness. We left, deciding to give it another try Monday morning. With luck, they will still has kittens of interest.
