Fantastic little side-trip, with an awesome selection of art work on display. It really is too bad that our Fed Govt has decided to restrict the display of museum artifacts to the extent that they have; shameful really.

Years ago - like in the ‘70’s - I stayed here as a scout on my way to Philmont… and little has changed which is a good thing! The art collection is amazing in the fact that nationally acclaimed Western artwork is within their four walls. The kiva still retains its wonderful ceiling and period murals. The arts and crafts within the gift shop are authentic and a “steal” as compared to the trading posts in Gallup. About an hour is needed to enjoy the collection and experience.

I visited this place probably 30 years ago as a kid on a scout trip to Philmont. I didn’t know it at the time but it was a large roof with no nails or so we were told. Then just recently I saw a blip on tv about it and remembered going there as a 13 or 14 yr old. Might make a trip back one day with my kids.

The low rating is because of people claiming cultural appropriation on a group of teenagers whp have spent plenty of time with native americans on reservations studying and understanding their culture better than those who write the negative reviews. Amazing dancers, art pieces inside are gorgeous, highly recommend

This place is awesome. Hands down the best display of Native American Art, Weapons, Clothing and Bead work available anywhere. You also cannot forget the dancers. Young children from all walks of life, learning these skill so they can raise money to give others these same opportunities. I love it!

Nice museum. Located in a super small town right across from the Otero College. Entrance is facing the college.
Lots of paintings and Indian artifacts. The museum was not too big or too small. $5 entry for adults. I'm not sure if children had a different rate since we didnt have any kids with us. Looks like they sometimes do performances. Would be nice to have a small booklet or sheet included as a self-guide. Only open from12 to 4pm on certain days.

Five stars is not enough!!!

Our troop is just back from our Koshare Indian Museum experience, and it was AMAZING!! The Indian Lore merit badge class was outstanding. The museum -- which contains innumerable treasures -- is off the charts. The Indian show was a 50 on 10 scale. Our overnight stay in the Kiva was outstanding. And best of all were the very gracious people at the museum that hosted us throughout.

Thank you so much for such a tremendous experience, and we will definitely be back again!!!
