This place is the real deal. Every instructor is a genuinely successful author and an excellent teacher. I have nothing but glowing reviews for the six instructors I’ve had, and I rarely say that about any class. Great for beginner hobbyists like me, as well as experienced writers on the verge of breaking through.

I took a 1 day, 6 hour short story writing class with Sarah Elizabeth Schantz. To preface, I have no desire or intention of becoming a professional writer. I took this course out of curiosity, and I am glad I did.

When I first walked in Sarah was panicking about not knowing what room the class was in and if there were enough seats available for everyone. I thought this may be a bad omen but soon realized it is because she is incredibly thoughtful and wants her students to have the best experience possible.

Sarah knows exactly what she is talking about when it comes to writing, she meticulously planned the curriculum, and she loves teaching. I got way more out of this than I could imagine. The 10 sentence life story exercise alone was worth taking the course.

We are always counting down to something. I’m counting down to the next in-person class Sarah hosts.

One of the most unique places offering unique writing workshops of all genres and varied lengths. I volunteered for them before taking a class and have been exposed to a lot that they offer to the writing community. I highly recommend checking them out!

The Lighthouse Writers Workshop is not just an incredible creative writing and literary space in Denver--it is among the best in the country--and the incredible work they do for kids and adults and veterans and the homeless to find their voice is superb and important.
