What an amazing experience! I did my first GDR trip to Nepal in Oct ‘24 as a dental hygienist. It exceeded all my expectations. The trip was very organized and our group was able to provide treatment to so many children! We were able to explore when we weren’t in clinic and we also took on a 5 day Everest trek. I am already planning my next trip with GDR and highly recommend it.

I have been a volunteer for GDR in India, Nepal and Mexico. Every experience has been extraordinary! Being a general volunteer I was initially concerned that I would be totally out of my element but that fear quickly disappeared. I felt, very much, part of a dynamic team focused on helping children. Language barriers and lack of a dental background were unimportant. I can't remember ever spending time with people who were more pleasant to be with. The personal satisfaction I felt from being part of this effort is impossible to overstate. A nice bonus was the after clinic opportunities: backpacking in India, treking in Nepal, and enjoying the culture and beaches near Akumal, Mexico.

Global Dental Relief is an amazing nonprofit. They provide dentists and non-dental volunteers like me with incredible experiences in amazing locations. Traveling with an incredible team and thoughtful and responsible team leaders, we worked in clinics to help kiddos with dental care. 100% recommend!

I had an amazing adventure as a general volunteer with GDR in Cambodia. The entire experience was life-changing, from our initial engagement with GDR to working with the local partners to the immersion with the people and culture in Siem Reap... I couldn't have asked for more. The team of volunteers we traveled with were wonderful, too! I highly recommend a travel & volunteer experience with GDR. Do something outside of your comfort zone and make a difference in the world! 🙂

This fall, I had the opportunity to volunteer with GDR Coba, Mexico. Throughout the week, I watched as everyone on the team learned or applied their skills to the best of their ability, with the common goal to help as many kids as possible! It was wonderful to see the difference we were making for them whether they left with no more pain, or with more knowledge on how to take care of their teeth. This was an experience of a lifetime and I am so glad I was able to have even a small impact on their lives 🙂 I hope to be back soon, but as a dentist this time...

I absolutely love GDR! I am a 3 time volunteer(so far) having been to Nepal, Kenya, and Guatemala! Every trip has exceeded expectations from the structure of the clinic and organization to volunteer and personal experience. Most importantly, the treatment and interactions with the kids in the clinic is always the top priority. I think the most telling sign of a truly remarkable and trustworthy organization is the number of return and lifelong volunteers!

Exhilarating Experience!! 🌎

GDR is efficient & organized. Jim and Leah were our strong and steady trip leaders. They took care of details so we volunteers could focus on the children, the clinic, the beautiful Guatemalan country and culture.

GDR has excellent connections with local partners in San Martin - they took such good care of us: interpreting, providing tasty meals, giving us tours of the community.

Part of your heart will stay there! ❤️ The children are sweet & brave. The parents are trusting & grateful.

Does it take some planning & prep? Sure. Does it take a little courage to step out of your box? Yes, but it’s 100% worth it.

Go ahead. 😊 Print the upcoming clinic schedule today and get out your calendar!

It was my first time volunteering with GDR in Akumal, Mexico and it was definitely an experience I won’t forget. Seeing all the kids smiles after they got treatment done and how grateful they all were, definitely was a fulfilling moment to see and be a part of. I do not have any dental experience and went into this trip as a General Volunteer. The trip leaders and staff all made us feel valuable and useful. I would say to others, to not shy away from volunteering if you don’t have any dental experience. I would love to continue volunteering if the opportunity arises again 🥰
