I enjoyed my backpacking class. I appreciate my awesome instructors Joe, Chris and Kathy for being patience with all of us who just started to learn about backpacking. Little things do matter, like packing my stuff, setting up the tent, water filtration, cooking meals, making fire, digging cat hole, etc. The last field day 3 was memorable. Snowy range Medicine Bow is stunning! Beautiful lakes and blooming wildflowers. We experienced all the weather from sunny to windy to cloudy to loud thunderstorms to hard raining to hails. I’m so glad I signed up for this class. I might be lucky too because instructors and my peers are sweet, caring and kind. Also, I personally think I learn better about using suunto compas at backpacking as opposed to Wilderness trekking class (WTS) but regardless I recommend taking the WTS class before joining backpacking class.

Minorities and the non wealthy are barred from activities and participation. The costs of participation are prohibitive for all except the filthy rich. The club is only for the arrogant filthy rich and is committed to barring non elites from accessing the wilderness. This club is not recommended.

Every new transplant to Colorado that plans to spend time in the mountains should take the beginning mountaineering class here. They'll learn to safely and responsibly be in the mountains while meeting some terrific people!
