The winding roads through the park are a driver's dream. I particularly enjoyed the hikes that led to scenic overlooks, where you can take in the expansive vistas and the beauty of the Colorado landscape. The park is also home to a herd of bison, which is always a delight to see.

The facilities are clean and well-kept, with plenty of picnic areas and rest spots to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. The visitor information center is helpful and provides great insights into the park’s history and wildlife.

Really beautiful hike! It says moderate but I feel like it was harder than moderate LOL
The hike is full of shade and it was literally so beautiful. I went on a Friday morning so not much traffic but I would imagine it gets pretty packed on weekends or in the afternoons. So WORTH it!

Bison were out and roaming right before sunset. I walked during the day and never saw them. Early in the day, or late in the day is the time to go looking for wildlife! Saw an elk, but couldn't get a good phone picture!

So close to the city, yet so far away. The views are great. Remember!- stay at least 3 feet from the wild caged in animals. You never really realize how big a bison is until you see one from at least 3 feet away from the fence. Oh! What did dad buffalo say to his boy when he left for school? Bison!

I am so happy that I live close to this local herd and can spend time watching them as the graze in the grass, and get fat for winter. There were quite a few babies in the head as well. Take some time and stop and watch these magnificent animals and a true moment to the American Wild West!!

A hidden gem…so wary of recommending…a little treacherous once trails get snow/ice-covered…wonderful hikes, friendly hikers everywhere.

Such a nice natural area! You can do different hikes around the buffaloes’ fence, even in winter (the paths were very walkable). We had such a nice time and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains. If you are lucky, the buffaloes will be close enough.
