There is not a downside to the Hand Hotel! Each room is unique and awesome. My job moved me up to Fairplay and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hand Hotel for 6 weeks. I got to stay in a number of different rooms each offering their own amazing charm and uniqueness.

Rooms are always clean and the location makes everything within walking distance.

Honestly the staff is the best part, they are so welcoming that in my time here they have made it feel like home. Always attentive and friendly. I found a house, which is bitter sweet as I have enjoyed my 6 weeks here and will miss the great staff at the Hand Hotel.

For an old historic, haunted hotel, this place is pretty great. Rooms are minimalist (no tv; just a bed and end tables), but very clean. We stayed in room 1 (the miner) with a king bed. But really this place is for sleeping, not room relaxing. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and filling. Dining area was bright and spacious, so guests aren't sitting on top of each other.

The staff was super friendly, hospitable, and very gracious.

Definitely a great place if you are staying here for a weekend whether it's spring or winter.

Hand Hotel is too good to accurately describe. We got in very late after they had locked up for the night but left us a key and instructions. I was super grateful that the lobby microwave and refrigerator were available so I could heat up food. We stayed in #5 at the back and the ambiance/ decor was beyond adorable. We got up for breakfast and Hazel the lobby dog greeted us. The GM gave us the run down and the food was great. Ask him about the plants in the sunroom. However, unless you're a true history nerd do not ask about the basement.

If you're looking for aesthetic, history, hospitality, maybe a spirit or two you're definitely in the right place!

Charming and Welcoming Stay at The Hand Hotel

The Hand Hotel is a gem! Its rustic charm is beautifully complemented by how well-maintained everything is. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, thanks to Kat at the front desk. She was absolutely awesome—friendly, warm, and made us feel right at home.

The rooms are exactly what you’d hope for in a rustic hotel: cozy, clean, and full of character. Every detail was noteworthy, and you could tell care had been taken to ensure guests feel comfortable.

Breakfast in the morning was a delightful surprise! It was delicious and the perfect way to start the day. It’s clear that the team here takes pride in providing an exceptional experience.

If you’re looking for a charming, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay, The Hand Hotel is a perfect choice. Highly recommend!

We didn't stay at the Hand Hotel, but we did shop there. The Hand is located in a great spot downtown and has some nice shopping. There were also some great historical books to look at while waiting on others.

Most importantly, the customer service was second to none. We purchased a hat and then accidentally left it at a local restaurant. The manager went to the restaurant, found the hat and mailed it back to our home in Louisiana.

This was very kind and most meaningful to my daughter, who loved the hat and hated she left it.

Definitely recommend this staff!

We needed a place near Quandary Peak and this place was perfect! The view from our room was amazing. The hotel is very cozy and has super friendly staff. Breakfast was just what we needed for a long day ahead! Will come again!

We stayed at the Hand Hotel over a weekend and went skiing at Breck. We loved the hotel and especially enjoyed the Breakfast. Our big dog Gus (Pointer) was very happy to join us, and he made a new friend named Hazel (Mike's Golden) who greeted him and shared her toys. We ate and had a family pool game at the Park bar up the street...totally safe and fun. Then we went back to the hotel and played board games in the back parlor area that is so unique and comfortable.

Innkeepers Mike and Robin were very professional, happy and very knowledgeable about their town of Fairplay. My family and I cannot say enough positive things about this hidden Colorado jewel of a hotel. Perfect score from me.

Needed a safe place out of the storm, literally! Mike was great, friendly and checked me in. I found my room clean, comfortable and was greeted by some much needed Golden Retriever kisses from Hazel. Pet friendly, charming and close to bars and restaurants. Thank you Kat and Mike for a pleasant stay, although it was great to get home!!
